Don't rely on MFP to measure your potassium intake. The FDA does not impose a recommended standard/minimum for potassium. Therefore, a lot of the listings do not contain accurate potassium information.

If you're eating your vegetables, then it is highly likely you are getting enough potassium. To find out what you are getting daily, you really have to do your OWN research. From what I have learned, daily potassium intake should be in the 3,500 to 4,000 mg range (or double that of sodium).

Labels don't always include potassium, so you may be taking in more than you think, check on the USDA site to get a better idea.

Most Americans don't get enough K, though, so you may very well not be getting enough. I know I didn't get nearly enough and I still work on K. :)

Don't take supplements unless the doctor advises it. Just get your K from your food.
  • I've been very concerned about potassium this week as well. I found out that low magnesium commonly accompanies low potassium, so you might consider taking pills with Magnesium & Potassium. But of course ask you doctor first.

There are much better sources of potassium, especially in terms of potassium/Calorie, than a banana
