I find them a struggle to eat, do you? even tho I love a mixed salad with balsamic dressing, avocado, tomato and my meal wouldnt feel balanced without veg, I'm not crazy about fruit either.
I'm tryin this new "diet" to eat every 4 hours and start with a fruit or veg before each meal and I find this hard to follow.

I love fruits and veggies, today I will probably eat this;
Breakfast - banana
Morning snack - plum and carrots
lunch - meat, two veggies, and grapes
dinner - meat with salad and two or three vegetable sides.
A little bit of rabbit food before a meal can help take the edge off your hunger. Things like raw carrots, celery, bell pepper slices.0 -
I'm not crazy about fruit either. I eat it- but sometimes it's a bit of a force feed, lol. I like vegetables better because they can be cooked and incorporated into things. I love salad! So I feel ya!

I could do without either... but I don't like being hungry, lol. So I eat a lot of them.
My advice is to find new veggies or new ways to cook them to make them tastier to you... roasted veggies are pretty great (although yeah you end up with more calories from the oil than the veggies), I love mashed cauliflower too... Soups are good and filling as well. Or you could try to make one dish meals that have veggies in them (shepherd pie, spinach lasagna, stuffed peppers, quiche, chili, broccoli mac'n cheese etc).
For fruit I limit myself to apples and sometimes berries because they are pretty filling for the calories, and a good crisp apple is actually pretty satisfying to me now.0 -
I can't imagine not liking fruit or veggies! I second ^this. Roasted vegetables are amazing!! I don't use olive oil, so I don't get the extra calories. I just use a light dusting of non stick cooking spray and seasonings. Works just fine.
If you don't like fruit, try adding something to it. Apple with a slice of cheese. Banana with some peanut butter. Strawberries dipped in low fat whipped cream, etc.0 -
No, I love local in-season summer fruit and fall apples, and berries and vegetables all year round.
Even when I was getting fat I ate lots of vegetables (sometimes with too much fat, though), and one of the easiest things I did when losing weight was decide to emphasize eating even more and ideally a good many with every meal (and to teach myself that they taste great without needing the fat, or with only a little).
I love vegetables, and never understand why people don't like them.0 -
I don't struggle but that's what I grew up eating. My mom always had a garden and fresh, in season produce is something I still crave.
Definitely try different preparations, like roasted as someone suggested.
Also, as rdfdac suggested, adding something to it might help with your aversion. I love a little honey on my berries, and nut butter with apples. And I really wish I had brought some cheese to have with my apple today now that she mentioned it.
But at the end of the day if you are finding this diet hard to follow, maybe it's not for you. If you want to see results you have to do something that works for you.0 -
I over do it with fruits (banana and grapes) so i have to keep it in moderation and pig out on tomatoes, which technically is a fruit! lol i have no problem with all the other veggies!0

Probably starting with the fruit or veg is just to make sure you eat them. I incorporate veggies with every meal and like a local, in season fruit for dessert.

Fruit is so yummy that I never had a problem increasing that. It remains a treat I can have every day.
Veggies were a challenge because I never really learned to make them in ways that tasted good. I honestly thought I didn't like them very much. So, I spent some time getting to know veggies and learning how I liked them. I can honestly say, now, that I do like veggies.
There are so many different fruits and veggies! Try some new ones!
If you don't absolutely hate a veggie, keep making it in new ways - different cooking methods, different combinations of foods, different spices - until you find a way of preparing it that has you saying, "Yum. I like this!" If you do absolutely detest the flavor, that's not something that can be overcome.
I still hate broccoli and nothing anyone does to or with it will change that.0 -

Broccoli is the freakin' best! Roasted with some soy sauce and stevia, red pepper flakes and garlic? OMG. It's like candy to me.0 -
I also struggle with fruits and vegetables. I really struggle with food in general, so my diet tends to be very consistent and bland. Some people love veggies. My husband can just sit down with a bag of raw mixed vegetables and munch on them like chips. I can really only do that with carrots. My parents also love veggies, but that definitely did not rub off on me like it did my other siblings.
I'd recommend starting by eating the fruits and vegetables you already know you like more often. Personally, I increased my servings per day of each rather than trying to have a fruit/veggie at each meal (especially since I usually have more frequent, small meals). I eat an apple every day with lunch and a bowl of grapes/strawberries in the evening when they're in season. I'll make smoothies occasionally with the frozen fruit. Smoothies also help me get in fruits I don't like, like bananas. I try to have a big salad for dinner every other day or so (I'm lucky I like leafy greens/purples). And when I don't have a salad, I try have half a plate of steamed green beans or broccoli.
I do try new veggies and preparation methods occasionally, but still tend to stick with the above (except I add garlic to my green beans and parmesan to my broccoli now).0 -

It's one of my favorites too, and one that's usually available and of decent quality, despite the season, so one I've always eaten lots of.
Didn't the older George Bush famously hate broccoli, though?0 -

When I see "broccoli" in a recipe, I generally think, "peas."

I love fruit and I've learnt to like vegetables. I never eat fruit and vegetable alone, always with other food - for fruit to prevent sugar crash, and for vegetables to absorb nutrients. Today:
Grapes and broccoli as part of breakfast
Banana/blueberry/milk smoothie and cauliflower as part of lunch
Green beans as part of dinner
Apple with cashew butter, and carrot sticks, as supper0 -
Get thee a cookbook by Yotam Ottolenghi: Plenty, Jerusalem, Ottolenghi, and Plenty More. Plenty and Plenty More are only vegetables and grains. He does FANTASTIC things with vegetables and legumes of all kinds. My children will even eat vegetarian one night a week as long as I serve some kind of Ottolenghi bean concoction.
Two of my favorite salads:
http://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2007/jun/02/foodanddrink.shopping3
http://www.bonappetit.com/recipe/tomato-onion-and-roasted-lemon-salad
Really, Ottolenghi has revolutionized vegetarian food! The downside is finding the ingredients...if you live somewhere where there is a Middle Eastern population you can find stuff easily, but you can still make his food without it.0 -

I love Jerusalem. Should look for the other books too, but I have too many cookbooks already.
550 Curries (I think that's the number) is a good source for some different vegetable options too.
I also love all the chefs cooking seasonally from their garden type books, when they have lots of photos -- good vegetable porn.
Additional good vegetable porn is at 101cookbooks.com0 -
Another option is to look at recipes designed to "hide" veggies from veggie-resistant children - things like winter squash in lower-fat cheese sauce, cauliflower pureed into soup or as the basis for sauces, that sort of thing.0

Hello! I used to have a huge problem with fruit. I stopped eating all fruit because I didn't like the fruits I was getting!
Seriously, I'll probably never eat another apple as long as I live, but i found other fruits i like and just incorporate them when i find them in season.
Don't force it. Try new things when you get the chance and see how you feel about them.
Eventually it'll be like you're at the store and think, "oh, this fruit is on sale. Cool. Ill eat some of that."
Also, canned frozen and fresh. It truly doesn't makea huge difference.0
