exercise with your pup?

I am often pressed for time but still try to single out periods of time for exercise. What further difficults things is my 8 year old pitbull also needs exercise to stay healthy and happy..does anyone have suggestions for how to get exercise myself while bringing my dog along? Walking yes, but I dont feel that its high enough impact to really feel like an effective workout.

Walking is good exercise for both you and your dog. Try sustaining a 15 minute/mile pace - great for your dog & will surprise you with the effort required to sustain that for a couple of miles.

Running. Or if your dog can't run, drop every 2 minutes and do burpies or walking lunges. You can also walk while carrying a pack with between 20 and 45 lbs in it to build strength and up your cardio load.

Yes to the above-- a fast walk is great for you (although it's not really a lot of exercise for a medium/large dog). You can jog/run with him as long as you acclimate him to it slowly. I'd also look for natural surfaces to run on as much as possible. At eight you want to be thinking about his joint health. Hiking is good, too. There are packs you can get so dogs can carry their own water and snacks. Also, you can get attachments so that you can safely hook a leash to a bicycle. The most well known one is probably the Springer, but there are others.

Add hills. Go on hikes. Every 2 minutes drop and do 10 burpees. That'll be HIIT for ya.
