Recommend getting a digital scale & using it (it's very easy to underestimate the food you're eating), be brutally honest with yourself & log everything, and follow the "basic plan" (Calories In, Calories Out. If CI<CO, you will lose weight).
Good luck & welcome to MFP!0 -
Be as accurate as you can with your logging. Double check that the entries you use are correct (cross check on the internet or verify nutrition labels). Doing this in the beginning will help ensure you have accurate entries. Avoid using entries that have "generic" in the title, as they are often wrong for some reason.

Edit: And, if you are using MFP's calculations for your exercise calories burned, be careful. MFP tends to over estimate by quite a bit.0 -

In addition to the food scale, I'd say add fitness friends that you really connect with. If they have similar goals and struggles it's nice. It will push you to stay on track.
Also get a heart rate monitor...a good one.
Find healthy substitutes for your favorite foods. Dashingdish.com has amazing easy recipes and ideas for healthy alternatives.0 -
