A couple of friends told me about this program a while back. It's called the General Motors Diet, but it acts more as a cleanse. I was just looking to see if anyone had any feedback on it - results/success??

Here's the link if you're interested

    Haha yes, actually. It says..

"The following diet and health program was developed for employees and dependents of General Motors, Inc. and is intended for their exclusive use. This program was developed in conjunction with a grant from U.S. Department of Agriculture and the Food and Drug Administration. It was field tested at the Johns Hopkins Research Centre and was approved for distribution by the Board of Directors, General Motors Corp. at a general meeting on August 15, 1985. General Motors Corp. wholly endorses this program and is making it available to all employees and families. This program will be available at all General Motors Food Service Facilities. It is management's intention to facilitate a wellness and fitness program for everyone. "

this is the Cabbage soup diet.. My grandparents do it alot... They do the diet for like 3 weeks and lose quiet a bit of weight and then stop for about a month... put the weight back on then do it all over again.. it is a cycle of ups and downs...
This is just a quick fix fad diet :(

I was about to say the same thing. The cabbage soup diet is not a healthy diet. You lose water weight and, because you can't sustain it, you go off of it and gain it back. Just eat a healthy diet. I eat low carb, but not everyone has to be as strict about it as I do to lose weight.

I don't have much faith in this GM Diet, based on the first part that they ask you to drink 10 glasses of water a day and eat alot of melon. LOL There is such a thing as drinking too much water and melon is also comprised of water in addition to what they suggest you drink. Too much water can be harmful to a persons system. It is called "water intoxication"

I find that just watching the calories, carbs and fat that you eat will make a big difference. Portion control is the biggest hurdle for most people. Also exercise is going to help a great deal, so get yourself moving if you want to lose wieght. I find that following a specific diet is setting yourself up to fail because one aspect or another you may not like and force yourself to do it and we all hate doing things we don't like to do.....so we eventually start to slack off and are likely to quit altogether.

Figure out a diet that is all your own, include foods you like and can enjoy eating often. If you don't like something or if your program needs changes then make them. It is your program, you know what will work for you and what won't.

    Good Luck
  • Unfortunately I have tried this diet. It is really great for a quick weight loss, but once that week is over you will gain all that weight back and then some. This diet is also known as the Sacred Heart Medical Diet and is used for over weight patients that need to lose a lot of weight in order to have surgery.

This is the link that I have used: http://www.idiet4u.com/diets/sacredheart.html

Some people may think they can just continue to use this diet for two or three weeks and then just take a week off and continue from where you left off. You will hate the soup!!! If your anything like me you will stop doing the diet and binge on the foods that you really want! They taste so much better after the diet that it's hard to stop yourself!!

I recommend to continue using My Fitness Pal, I am losing weight at a natural pace...:glasses:
