Hi all

After some support. Have been cal counting for 6 weeks now and have dropped 10kgs from my 40kg goal. I broke today and ate completely over my calories for the day. What i would like is some help on how others keep strength through times of stress and haven't turned to comfort eatting. I feel better bad as im noticing more days when im falling off the wagon and im worried that old habits are breaking through. Look forward to reading your post and thanks for the support :)

Like everybody says, every day is a new start. I also tend to eat when I'm stressed. Try to find another outlet, maybe a warm shower or a walk. Making myself a really good cup of coffee or tea helps me. I wish you peace!

Here's to hoping that the hard times you are experiencing ease up soon. I believe a lot of people would agree with me that those are the worst times when trying to change your lifestyle to a healthier one because we are tempted more to fall back on bad habits that we have built over many years. I would suggest that you turn to exercise as a release or escape, which would serve two purposes. Exercise causes your body to release endorphins, which causes a feel good response throughout your body. It also serves to help burn calories, which will obviously help with your weight loss.

Stay as mentally strong as you can. If it helps, try to find a motivational quote each day that you could fall back on when you feel like you are starting to slip or lose control. Hopefully these two might help. Nikos Kazantzakis said "In order to succeed we must first believe that we can." Know that success is not a straight line but the most crazy, zig-zag line to your goal. But knowing and believing that you will get there will carry you through the tough times. And the second quote, by Thomas Paine, reads "The harder the conflict the more glorious the victory." Just keep in mind how much your lifestyle change will mean to you when you reach your goal because of the hardship and strife you are going through now.

Know that everyone here is behind you, wanting you to succeed. Learn on people here when you need it. Good luck, and remember no matter what you do, never, never give up!

Thank you so much guys for giving me such strong guided help. I have taken on board all your suggestions and i have done many of them already. I must remember in the hard times that eatting is only going to cause more pain and i must not be tempted. I am only as strong as my mind allows me so i must be stronger than my mind.

this all is a journey. one day is just one day and should be a small blip on the radar. Do better with the next food you eat.

not knowing your calorie info, sometimes binges are a result of overly aggressive weight loss goals. Especially, as we get closer to our goals.

Also make your food count. not just calorie or nutritionally. taste. a satisfying meal helps curb cravings
