TDEE Question

My TDEE is 2189 (I work out 3-5 times a week) I usually eat around 1600 cals a day but on days that I work out do I get to eat back some exercise cals or does that defeat the purpose of the 3-5 workout a week activity setting (I hope that makes sense?)

Like for example today I ate over 1600 but burned 400 working out, what does this mean deficit wise?

TDEE method includes your exercise calories already. You are already eating them back, it's just spread out evenly across the week.

The 400 you burned from your workout was already factored into your 1600 calorie goal.

You only eat back exercise calories when your following MFP. Why? Because MFP's method gives you a goal to lose weight based on your daily activity without exercise.

Okay perfect. Exactly what I was wondering! Thanks!

My understanding is that the TDEE total already includes your workouts so if you eat back your exercise cals you are double dipping so to speak. ie you don't get to eat them back. I don't exercise consistently so I use the mfp method (which I think is called NEAT?).

By eating over 1600 you have cut in to your deficit for the day. I am not sure if your exercise has compensated at all because you would need to know how many cals your TDEE allocates to exercise.

I think anyway....I am sure someone smarter than me will respond with the right answer.
