Hi. I just started taking metformin and I am also doing a low Gi diet. So far it is working really well. But it is still a struggle.

It made me sick to. I learned quickly that if you have Pcos and are on metformin you need to cut out milk and eat low Gi foods. Doing these two steps have helped me. But I have no choice I am trying to conceive baby number two and I need to get my body in gear.

hi Shelly! I was ''experimented'' with lots of different medication by doctors but nothing made my periods regular. I would miss them for months. I actually studied it thoroughly last year and realized, if not treated, what those cysts can be. It actually scared me. So first thing was to speed up my metabolic rate. I stopped every single medicine i was taking on my own. From April 2015 I started going to gym on regular basis, made my schedules and strictly followed them. I changed my eating habits too. Every fried thing was replaced by baked. Rice+all sorts of processed foods were completely off the plate. Only bread i consumed was whole meal home made ones. Fresh fruits and veggies became my pal. I am 5'3 and weighed 165 lbs in April now i am 130 lbs. I feel great with my body, Things are getting normal now.

A month ago I consulted a really good doctor. Surprisingly, she agreed with me, that I was ''experimented'' and should never have given contraceptives for over years and metformin in high dose instead folic acid +B12/B6 supplements should have given. Rather than checking for adrogen levels (which were damn obvious) she investigated for prolactin levels. Those were high!! it was never investigated before. So now i am on Dopergin-supressing prolectin levels, Metformin 500mgx2 and folic acid suppliment. I never felt better before. I still exercise every day. Doctor tells me to maintain this weight or lose no more than 4-5kgs.

So I have PCOS , but currently not taking meds because it messed with my body and gave me bad mood swings. Also I have diverticulosis so my mid section doesn't like me..lol. I take probiotics and some other vitamins to help flare ups. I have gained more weight and am frustrated.. Need to jump start my weight loss. When I juice it for a while I lose weight and get energy and then I stop and gain..it sucks plus I don't have a lot of money so doesn't help when trying to eat healthy.

There must be a way to lose without fad dieting and meds.

    Please add me

Just found a success story with a person with PCOS.. Thinking of following these rules:

The 21-Day Challenge In 30 Seconds
This is the Challenge. Do it for just 21 days and the results will speak for themselves.

    Eat real food.
Avoid sugar, grains, unhealthy fats, beans/legumes.
Align your carb intake with your weight goals and activity levels.
Move frequently at a slow pace: Get between 2-5 hours per week of moderate aerobic exercise.
Lift heavy things: Conduct 1-3 brief, intense sessions of full-body functional movements.
Sprint: Go “all out” once a week.
Get 8 hours of sleep every night.
Get 15 minutes of direct sun exposure each day.
Play! Find time to let go, disconnect, unwind and have fun each day.

I was diagnosed with PCOS several years ago. I was taking metformin and found that to be hugely helpful. I'm on a low gi diet as well, and it's worked wonders! Lost -118.8lbs so far...another 40lbs to go! I'd love to be friends with any of you ladies! We could all always use a little more motivation and support in this journey :)

Hi everyone, Lily here. I am 5'5,160 lbs. Just recently diagnosed after my husband and I had trouble getting pregnant. I am on 500mg metformin now- supposed to go up to 1000 but the symptoms (nausea, headache) are MISERABLE. Doctor says to lose 30 lbs but I'd like to lose 40, which would still keep me at a healthy BMI and was when I was happiest. Anyways I could really use some encouragement... it is so hard seeing all of my friends getting pregnant and here I am, just struggling every day not to gain weight... :(

    Howdy!
I too suffer with the PCOS, recently diagnosed. I'm on 1g Metformin a day, it was suposed to be twice that but I was getting sick so the doctor wants me to work up to it. I'm supposed to see a specialist soon which is scary and the main reason I NEED to lose this weight is because I want kids. I'm a little scared that I wont be able too but I'm hoping once my health improves it wont be a problem.
