Protein is the dieting substitute for carbs. You want to eat lean meats (turkey, fish, chicken), and some non meat proteins (beans, nuts).

You can also make shakes and stuff with protein whey.

    Try watching your sugar
BOTH sugar and artificial sweeteners increase your appetite, so cutting back on them makes weight loss easier, because you are not hungry all the time.

If I have a DIET COKE, no way I can keep at 1200 cal.
More foods now than ever before have hidden sugars in them and are sold as "real foods"
If I'm going to eat the sugar I want a cookie, gosh darn it!

You don't have to be perfect you just have to do better.

Because it increases your appetite and make it harder to keep to your calorie goals.
It takes between 2-3 weeks to adjust to lower levels of sugar. So give it 3-4 weeks and see how you feel. Really hard to stay with in the MFP target, but you'll see how much sugar is hiding in things that are sold as *real food* (Yogurt has a ton, Nutrigrain bars are sold as a healthy option, but they have 11 types of sugar)

Is stevia good for you, as far as snacks flavored with stevia?...Or does it make sugar cravings worse?

Protien, "good" carbs and fiber will keep you full..Fiber One has a great selection...Brown Rice and Whole grain, eggs, tuna, things like that will help you stay fuller longer!

I'm keen on hard boiled eggs, sliced in half with a dash of black pepper, and an oz of cheese, monterey jack, swiss or cheddar. I buy 1lb blocks, and cut into 16 serving size pieces, so I can just reach in the fridge and grab a piece, and not worry about having too much.

Almond or peanut butter, spread on some celery as well.

I haven't checked that out. I'd cut back all sweeteners for 2-3 weeks and than add stevia back in and see whether it increases cravings or not.
