Which scale do you guys think is more accurate ? I weighed myself on the digital scale and it was 6 pounds heavier than the dial scale.

Digital. I can cheat a dial scale by craning my neck this way or that way so the needle looks lower than it is.

I'm so ashamed to admit that, but it's true!

    Doesn't matter.

Your weight fluctuates up and down up to 5 lbs during any given day. Your weight isn't some magic static, unchanging number. It's a range over a long term trend.

Pick one scale, and use it consistently.

Don't concern yourself so much with one number at one reading, but at the trend over time.

If your goal is weight loss - is the trend downward?
If your goal is weight gain - is the trend upward?
If your goal is maintenance - is it staying roughly the same?

If yes, keep on keeping on. If no, then make changes as necessary.

I don't know. I'd guess that the digital scale was right, but if I lean forward on my digital scale, I can drop a pound. I don't think any of them are all that accurate.

The number itself doesn't really matter. As long as you pick a scale and stick with that scale, you'll know how many pounds you're losing. :)

Oh no! Whyfor you tell us that?

I'm pretty sure mine doesn't, I better not check to see.

    +1 to all of this.

Having said that, I prefer a digital scale 'cause I'm quite farsighted and I can't see the dial scale well enough to get a decent reading first thing in the morning.

Yup. I tried using my sister's dial scale while I was staying at her house, but because I had to lean down to see, it kept moving. With a digital scale, get on, stand perfectly straight and still for about 5 seconds (DON'T try looking down at it) while it takes the reading. Once it locks, then you can look.

For many months, I leaned forward, lol.

I use the scale to track my progress, so I don't really care if it's not 100% accurate. If I lose ten pounds, I'm happy about that. It doesn't matter to me if I went from 180 to 170 or 181 to 171. It's still ten pounds, KWIM?
