  • I am going to watch this post ... I would like to know the same. There are too many choices out there for HRM!!!
  • I have the FT4 anyway. I think I should have gotten the FT7. I am going to try to unload the FT4.

I've had the FT7 for a week now and I love it. Comfortable chest strap, easy to use, and accurate.

What does the FT7 do that the FT4 doesn't?

I love mine!! I haven't encountered any downs...I guess the band that you put around the upper stomach area can become annoying sometimes, but for the most part it's been great. I have had it for 4 months and haven't had any issues with it. I love that it tells my how long I have been in fat burn vs. fitness zone and my calories burned. I love that an alarm will sound if I go over what is considered my safe heart rate. It was a good investment for me. Hope this helps!

I have the older model F7. I bought the FT7 as a back up and didn't like the small buttons or face and sold it. I will keep sending my F7 back to Polar for a battery replacement. The good news with the FT7 you can replace your own battery. I have had the F7 for 3 years and still on the same battery. As far as functionality I am sure the FT7 operates just fine. You will have a hard time finding a better one for the price.

i have it and so far I like it allot more than my other watch which was a sportline brand from walmart! It comes with a chest strap which you have to get wet before you put on and a transmitter that you attach to it! The only down side is having to make sure and remove and re-attach the transmitter before and after use! I also have to make sure and put both watch and transmitter in the same place to avoid loosing them!

I intend to get the FT7, I've done some research and was torn between the FT4 and the FT7 but have decided on the FT7. You can compare Polar products (so the FT4 and FT7) on the polar website. That helped me decide. The FT4 holds fewer files (workouts) but the selling point for me, for the FT7, was that it not just keeps track of HR and calories burned but also tells you whether your HR is in a fat burn zone or a fitness zone. I realize it's not 100% accurate, but this seems helpful to me so I know how far to push myself.

I am not sure because I never owned one, but I think it is the % time in fat burning zone vs % time in cardio zone after a work out. If you know your zone ranges I am not sure how important that is. Maybe some cosmetic differences.

LOVE my FT7! I got it in February this year and use it all the time. I use it even when I'm doing housework etc. Its fun to see how many calories you burn for various things. I have no complaints about it at all. None. I first fell in love with it when I opened it, saw how easy it was to set up with my stats in it and best of all, it's so easy to operate that I don't need my husband to show me how to use it!! LOL

I've had it for about 4 weeks now.

    Pro's:
    ~easy to set up
~kool website, you can set: goals, challenges, fitness target levels; view a diary of your workouts - diary shows an overview of your fatburn & fitness percentages
~watch keeps data for 2 weeks
~comes w/a hr strap, so it constantly takes your hr
~provides accurate fat burn & fitness workout results - it fluctuates based on your resting heart rate & other factors (show's duration in each zone {fat burn & fitness})

    Con:
~I wish that it had the capability of monitoring my distance
~I wish that it came with the syncing tool that allows your watch to sync w/the website - if you don't have it, you would have to manually enter everything
~while setting fitness goals on the website, your zones are broken down into 3 levels (1 fatburn & 2 fitness zones); however, the watch only shows the two zones (fat burn & fitness), i wish that the fitness levels were broken down into two zones.

There is a possibility that the watch is capable of doing some of the things above; however, I do not know how to do it.
