Ever since I've started my journey I feel like I've been isolated from everyone around me. I knew from the beginning it would be tough knowing i won't be able to eat whatever I wanted to. For some reason I've been feeling it even more now. I've been called obsessed for counting my macros, going to the gym after a long day of work, etc.

What are your guys' experience on this and what helped you get passed it?

MFP definitely helps. Maybe find like minded friends in real life, too.

My experience has been that I've kept in shape and fit over the years and my friends all gained weight. All you can do is be yourself. Catch up with your friends after your workout or on the weekend. I go out to eat but prelog my food and just eat what I put in. That way I don't need to use my phone to log at a restaurant with friends.

That's the problem with our social life revolving waaaay too much around food.

When I honor my commitments to myself--whether to go to the gym, or stay under my calorie goal, or make time to read because it's an activity that nourishes my spirit-- I feel less deprived.

One of those commitments is making time to be around people who nourish my spirit as well. At least once every two weeks or so, I make a play date with a friend or friends to go to a play or get together and write or do improv together, or just enjoy girl talk at a local haunt. And my true friends don't care what I do or don't eat or drink when we spend quality time together.

It's hard, but doable. I feel the same; the hardest is with family. Especially when you get the, "well, WHAT can/do you eat?" People attach emotions and feelings to food. You're not alone!
