Protein in urine?

In my recent regular health checks, small amount of protein was detected in the urine test. All other markers related to cholesterol, diabetes, blood pressure etc are completely normal. There is no infection as well.
I am on weight loss journey where I have already shed 50 pounds and have another 22 to go before reaching my goal weight. The plan is to then work towards 15% body fat target keeping at the Goal weight.
Protein in my clean eating diet has been a big help so far. I have currently 30% calories coming from protein. My doctor does not seem to have any problem with it but still not able to diagnose the root cause of this albuminuria / proteinuria.
Have you come across similar situation before? What was the diagnosis? Also, are there any self help actions that can be taken to reverse this condition? Appreciate your help!!

My doctor told me i had this going on too; he said some people just have more than average protein in their urine and not to worry about it. He documented the amount i have and i suppose we'll keep a record of it each physical exam0 -
Stress. Heat or cold exposure. There is a plethora of reason that your doctor should of mentioned. The mayo clinic has some listed0

Just a quick search on it, it looks more medical than dietary although I saw some things on blood sugar and diabetes as possible causes.. Not being a doctor I have no clue... best of luck to you.0

Kidney function was checked and reported ok. He is yet to refer me to a nephrologist though for potential ultrasound or biopsy. Don't know if that is what I need to push for.
What worries me is the fact that no protein should pass through kidneys at all, in theory. The molecules are too big for filters. So, this probably just indicates very initial stage of kidney malfunction. Doesn't it?0 -

Wait a minute. Is your doctor concerned about this at all or not? I can't tell from what you've posted. A small amount of protein can be normal. It is not necessarily indicative of kidney malfunction.0 -

It may, and you should be emotionally prepared for that possibility in your diagnosis... but definitely let the nephrologist examine you to be sure. You may also receive a clean bill of health from the nephrologist too0 -
Thanks folks. Will push for a nephrologist referral. Somehow there is just too much information on Internet pointing to everything in general but nothing in particular! Hence thought of posting here to understand real world experiences.
I don't have any intention to tone down weight training or high protein diet just yet. Hope these don't become 'famous last words' after the diagnosis.0 -
Thanks aes1219. I am on TDEE - 500 approx. Blood sample didn't show more than normal level of ketones.0
