Ok so I started out at 371lbs and dropped to 359lbs I've been lifting and doing cardio moderately this whole time... Now all of a sudden I weigh 367lbs BUT people tell me it looks like I'm losing weight (even tho I can't tell) ... Is it possible I gained muscle? Idk I just know I'm really trying to get under 300lbs and this was kind of discouraging...

dont get discouraged! no matter your weight, you are making positive choices working out. without a time frame and more specifics its hard to make a judgement, but you cant really gain muscle on a deficit. but your body can retain water when you are pushing yourself hard. strength training will help you retain the muscles you have while you lose fat. a nearly 10 pound jump is pretty big to happen without you knowing why. :) nudge nudge.

Weight loss fluctuates. Your weight loss will not be linear, you will actually gain a few here and there. Some of that will be water weight, some of it might be your scale. Check your logging to make sure everything is weighed and logged accurately. Sometimes we get complacent or sloppy and aren't logging as well as we should and that can mess up your numbers. *ahempersonalexperience* Also, chart your weight loss. If you can look at a graph for about three months, drawn a line from start to finish and the line is going down, that means your overall TREND is downward and you're fine.

Also, take measurements with a tape measure. In the past 9 weeks I've lost a total of 6#, but have lost 3 1/2 inches on my waist. You really want those measurements now to help you down the road when the scale isn't being your friend.

I myself just broke out of the 300's club like four days ago. I didn't really get into a grove of losing until i found a healthy balance of weights and cardio... i would have a large gain from time to time but it was mostly water retention i was having high blood pressure issues.
Your gain could be muscle... i would go on like body builders.com they would have a better idea of how much muscle weight could be gained in a certain time period :)

You gotta tape measure your muscles brah and dont worry, Its more mental than physical. And yea well if you lift and you are begginer, that could happen. Maybe you did gain muscles, those are called begginer gains. You can lift, cut and at same time get em noob gains too but dont worry you just stay focused OP and if feeling discouraged take a day off. Thats what I usually do so I come back a day later wanting to slay weight room more

I agree, I think we all get discouraged at times. But if we don't keep to it, then we would never lose weight. The goal isn't to lose weight technically, it's to become healthier. So even if you lose a pound or two in a month rather than a week then it's still progress! Don't give up on yourself, if you're truly dedicated and patient then you'll get results! Best of luck.

Even if you have gained muscle, you should still be losing weight. Its probable your diet isn't so great and that's certainly where you need to put most of your effort if you want to lose weight and keep it off.

YOu don'thave to do any exercise at all to lose weight and its my contention that most weight losers would find the whole business a lot easier if they didnt' take up exericise until they were inside their healthy weight range and feeling motivated to do it.

Reason being if you can't lost weight iwhtout exericse you will certainly put back on the weight, sooner rather than later.

Second reason being that exercise tends to complicate the whole picture and you are just experiencing one of those complications right now.

third, its easier to get discouraged and give up the whole project when exercise is part of the mix.

Get your diet right. This should be the most important priority of losing weight.
Managing your mental health so that you are never in a stress mode of depressed funk for very long is just as important because you can't lose weight if you are depressed (unless severely depressed).
