Hi all, I get married in 2 weeks and I went for my initial fitting 3 weeks ago and didn't get into my dress at all. I've been juicing predominantly since then and happy days I got in it today!

I know what I'm like though and it's usually when I achieve a weight loss goal I celebrate with a biscuit.
Looking for motivation and any hints and tips to stay on track for my hen do this weekend.
Hoping to lose around 7lbs or so in the next 2 weeks as a bit of a buffer!

Thanks all!!

Get out of the house, drink lots of water, don't be around food that much. Plan your indulgences ahead of time - instead of "anything goes!!" on hen night, say "i'll allow myself one fancy mixed drink, everything else will be wine or with a diet mixer, and I'll eat a salad beforehand so I can have those fries, but I'll split them and I won't order an entire pizza". Going in with a purpose really helps.

Also, think of it as 14 days, not 2 weeks. Thinking in weeks can make things seem farther off than they are.

Well, ditching fad weight loss methods like juicing would be a good start. 7lbs of fat in two weeks is unrealistic. You can cut carbs and sodium, but you'll just lose water weight. (maybe...you've probably already lost some water weight through juicing). You can try to eat 1200 calories per day and lose 2-3 lbs in two weeks, but 7lbs (of fat) isn't going to happen.

I know that juicing isn't sustainable but really was looking for something quick which thankfully worked but I know as soon I eat 'conventional food' it'll be going straight back on. Good shout on planning ahead, I know we are off out to dinner at the weekend so planning on high protein and no carbs. Luckily I can see the menu already. And there will be dancing. Lots and lots of dancing X

You could've started your weight loss journey earlier (for the wedding), because you can get a dress you're happy to wear. Now, you will feel pressured to lose weight (in unhealthy way) to fit into a smaller dress you bought. My apologies if I kinda sound mean but if I am in your position. I will start 4 or 6 months ahead of time to mentally prepare myself, check my caloric deficit, and find a good exercise regimen.

I will save you the lecture because you know yourself that juicing is unsustainable. Start introducing food back into your diet slowly to avoid nausea. But you definitely want to be eating by the wedding. Stress and lack of nutrients can spell disaster on a day that is supposed to be exciting. You don't want to be one of those brides that pass out at their reception.

    Good luck.

I just did the same thing for my wedding in june. You already know all of the bla bla you should do this/that instead stuff. So i'll tell you what worked for me.

    1) i made a countdown to the wedding board and put it on the fridge
    2) i drank SO MUCH WATER. (i'm talking a gallon a day)
    3) cut out bread, pasta, rice, and potatoes (even whole wheat)
    4) on your ladies night, eat a really big filling meal of veggies and some lean meat so you're stuffed and can avoid temptation more easily. Also, water or diet soda in a rocks glass looks like booze.
    5) do about an hour of moderate cardio a day

this is what I did and I shed about 25 lbs in the 2 months before my wedding. that being said, YOU WILL REGAIN MOST IF NOT ALL OF THIS WEIGHT. If it comes off fast, i find that it goes back on fast too. But, for the wedding I was willing to make the sacrifice. I got down 25 and then promptly regained about 22 (honeymoon buffets, and general missing of real food). But now I'm only ten away from my wedding weight... but it's been 4 months since the wedding.
so, do what you've got to do to be happy in the dress, but be aware that you'll probably have to take that weight off again in a more sustainable way later. Best of luck and happy wedding!!!

Thanks everyone really appreciated on the tips , however this thread was more intended for support and motivation rather than "you should have started sooner" Abby. I know that. It's a lesson learnt. You can get down from that soapbox now.

When my sister in law did this she cut out excessive amounts of salt to cut down on water weight. Maybe try to stay away from salty stuff leading up to the big day.
    Congratulations!
