OK so tomorrow is weigh in. What are some good rewards/punishments that do not involve food? I was thinking if I do hit my goal of 2 pounds per week I could get myself the All Clad Copper Core skillet I have been dreaming about getting. Or I could get myself the knife kit I really want. But as far as punishment for not hitting my goal or for (heaven forbid) I gain... what do you suggest? Maybe give my half of my spending money to my fiance? Idk suggestions welcome

I was not being rude at all. I would have said do better tomorrow but your post sounded more self flagellation. I wanted to give you something to think about because life after all is too short. And punishing yourself because your body is not responding is sad. You need to stay positive and love who are.0 -

Also, I never once said I didn't love myself. I am a very confident person. But I need a stronger push than most people. It isn't "sad," it's different then what works for you. If it's something you don't understand or its something you don't agree with read the post (or not) and move on. Don't make someone feel bad because they aren't like you.0 -
I'm with you Ashley and totally get what you are saying. It kills me how self righteous people can be on here. If they didn't have a suggestion they so could have kept on to the next forum topic. Anyways... How about extra excercises? Like if you run and extra half mile. Or something like that that will push you (you may not like it) but it's good for you. So it's a win win! Or if not that then... Maybe early bed time all week, no eating after 6 or 7 no matter what or Set the wager ahead of time for yourself that if you hit your goal and if you don't then you don't get like getting your eyebrows done or something you do regularly. If you hit goal you get to keep your regular schedule. If you don't you have to walk around like Bert for a week. Lol0

If you really need rewards/punishments, that's fine, but using the number on the scale isn't fair to yourself. If you went over calories, skipped workouts, sabbatoged in other ways... Use the punishment there. Same with rewards. Eventually you do want the scale to move, but its the habits you want to focus on.0

I am not trying to be self righteous here, and yes different things motivate different people. But, for a lot of us including myself, one of the reasons I was never successful at losing weight was because, I "punished" myself every time I felt I failed at losing weight. Everybody over eats occasionally, were only human. Plus, weight loss is not linear. There was plenty of weeks where I didn't lose even if I ate at a deficit every day.0

If you gain weight, give your money to charity or walk up and give it to a homeless person.0

Personally, I think it's better to tie rewards/consequences to behaviors, which you can control, rather than the way your body responds to weight loss, which you can't. I don't necessarily think punishment is the most encouraging, but earning that skillet by keeping to your goals sets you up for success, IMO. The numbers on the scale fluctuate for a variety of reasons, but you can own your behaviors (staying within calorie goals, activity goals, steps, etc.). Just something to think about, good luck finding what works for you!!!0

Punishment? Well, whatever floats your boat.
I say instead of giving your fiancé your cash... How about allowing him to put you on his lap and get a good spanking. Could also be used as a reward, ya know!

I know others have mentioned it, but I wanted to chime in with the punishment thing. Punishment at not achieving weightloss goals is often something you see in people with eating disorders. Not saying you have one, but it's not a mindset you'd like to be in. I used to punish myself with small fasts, which grew into days at a time, and clearly it's not something that works. Instead, if you experience a gain, reflect on what may have caused it and move on. Do what you can to change it, but definitely don't punish yourself. It's not fair to you or your journey.0
