Feel like I'm gaining but the scale is going down.

The numbers on the scale are slowly going down but I feel like I'm gaining. My face & neck area look like I've gained weight (in my opinion). Any ideas on what would cause this? The only thing that has recently changed is that I've now added working out with a kettle bell & exercise ball, before all I was doing was walking on the treadmill.

Measure your neck then to rule out a faulty scale.
It's certainly not muscle gain if you just started and are in a deficit.

    yeah....it's in your head.

the feelz generally aren't a very good barometer of things.

obviously if the scale is trending down, then you're not gaining...

During certain times of the month women retain water. That can mask fat loss a little bit and make you feel bloated. Also...same way if you just stared a heavy workout routine.

It could be your imagination or it could be bloating. A change in diet or PMS are common causes for bloating. Measuring is a good idea. But mostly just give it time. If you are doing the work, it will pay off in the long run.

Probably in your head. Personally speaking, when I have lost weight in the past I don't feel any smaller, in fact I notice problem areas even MORE. Its really hard to get your mind to see the weight loss. Do your clothes feel any different?

    Yes!

Also OP idk how it happens, but yes, at times when I've lost, I definitely didn't feel any smaller or notice any positive difference. All you can do is keep going.

Agreed with everyone else. This is always how I feel when I'm losing. I think it's anxiety-induced!

I'm with you! My theory is that when I'm not thinking about my weight, I'm not noticing it so much in how I look and feel. But when my mind is on losing, I'm more conscious of the extra fat and how it feels on my body.

The mind does funny things. I remember losing my first 5-10 pounds and crying because I thought I looked horrible. The body is adjusting, as well as the mind. Take measurements, progress pics, and keep at it.

    Take monthly measurements! :]

The mind can play some strange tricks on you, especially whilst undergoing a weight loss plan.

The other day, I was looking at myself in the mirror at the gym (I was in a particular bad mood on this day) and I was convinced my stomach had expanded. The day after happened to be 'measurement day' for me and of COURSE it was all in me head - I'd lost 2 inches from my stomach that month. Your mind is trolling you, ignore those thoughts. You're doing great. Now get out that tape measure!
