I posted this in the Maintenance & Support category, but now I'm thinking this should really be under Success Stories. Sorry for the double posting. :)

So, I turn 44 this year and I refuse to settle in to middle age. In January 2010, I decided it was time to get back in to shape. I've lost over 30 lbs since then and also worked hard to reach another goal. In December, I earned my black belt in Taekwondo. I don't want to stop now, so I've set other personal fitness goals outside of maintaining the weight I've lost. They include:

1. Earn my second degree black belt in 2012
2. Train and run my first 5K marathon in 2012
3. Train and run my first 10K marathon in 2013

What goals are you working towards, other than losing weight?

I'd like to be able to bench press 1.5x my weight, to do 100+ consecutive pushups, and ultimately have a 6-pack (duh).

But so you know, I think you are talking about a 5k RACE , and 10k RACE in goals 2 and 3... Unless you meant half and full. But marathon is a set distance... 26.2miles (42k)

**EDIT - clarify. Oh, and currently bench is 1.2x weight, pushups ~40-50 and 6-pack in progress :)

I'm with you on the races...I want to run my first 5K in October of this year and my first 8K in March of 2012
  • I am planning to run a 1/2 marathon this fall.
Nothing new for me, as I have run 8 full marathons and 5 1/2 marathons. But, I have been out of prime running shape for awhile, and am on a goal to lose weight and run a 2 hour 1/2 !

And FYI, running the 5K will be a marathon for me. I hate running... but I thought I would try to run it anyway. I'd just like to say I did it and reach one more personal goal. :)

You reach out and take that goal! You can do it! I just started running(jogging) again yesterday. You know what they say..."Deconditioning happens alot faster than conditioning." Boy, I know that's right!!! : )
