Good morning.

I am living in India with my family, and I'm having a hard time keeping track of my food intake because part of the lifestyle here involves eating out several times a week. When I am home, it's easy, as I am doing all the cooking, so I know exactly what's in our meals. I also walk at least 30-45 minutes every day with the dog, so I'm getting some movement. I've tried estimating, and making better choices. not overeating, going out a bit less, but I'm staying stuck at the same weight because I can't figure out how to make eating out work. This is not the kind of assignment where I am willing to turn down too many more invitiations...I do try to eat at least 80% of my meals at home.

It's a tricky one, I know...but any realistic advice would be helpful!

Absolute calories don't matter as much as relative calories.

As much as it's nice to know exactly what you're eating each day and to try to track as accurately as possible, in some cases that just isn't going to be possible. So it's enough to know that what you're currently eating right now -- however much it is -- is likely around maintenance for you. You know this because you're stuck at the same weight.

Try decreasing what you eat by about 15-20% from your current food amount. Take smaller portions onto your plate. Cut back on your lunch if you know you're going to be going out for dinner. Etcetera.

Generally, the high calorie foods have oil or sugar. Both are hard to "eyeball" compared to eyeballing bread and rice and potatoes.

That! Perhaps try doing bit more exercises? Just to burn bit more?
