Starting on my "Pre-Wedding" Journey

Hello everyone. My name is Sheila and I am 45 years old. I am getting married May 15, 2016. When my fiancé and I met, I weighed in at 142 lbs. In my 3 years with the love of my life, I have blossomed into a full 190 lbs.. Over the past month, I have been trying on wedding gowns and the person I see in the mirror is NOT the person I want to be. He loves me as I am but, I do not love myself anymore.
So today, I start my journey to take my life and my health back. I am new to all of this so any input, suggestions and help is greatly appreciated. I need to know everything. Recipes, foods, exercise. I am not even sure where to start but, I have to start. Thanks in advance for any and all help on this journey I have begun.

Best wishes!! you can do this!!0 -
Congratulations on your upcoming wedding - regardless of your weight, you'll look stunning - I promise
It's good to see you wanting to get fit and healthy! My advice to you would be to take it one pound at a time and be gentle and kind to yourself in the process. You'll have some up's and down's throughout your journey but the important thing is that you continue to believe in yourself and remain positive! I promise you can do this.
Wishing you the very best of luck & don't be afraid to reach out on the MFP community if you need any help!0 -
Thank you so much. It still amazes me how I never mentally realized the weight I had put on. I knew I went from a size 8 to a 10 then to a 12 then next came the 14 and now the 16's. But it took being surrounded by mirrors in my possible wedding gown to realize what I had let happen to myself.
I appreciate the support and guidance. It means more than you know.0 -
Good luck. I am getting married on 14 May 2016 and have lost 15 kg so far(South African here). I wish you all the best. I also have a long journey to were I want to be. Might be good to have some support!!!0
