5 lbs first week!

I don't know why I waited a week to post my intro, but here it is. Ok maybe I do have an idea why I waited. I was afraid that I wouldn't be able to keep up with this site and I would give up after posting an introduction, but this hasn't been the case at all. I wish I would have found this site a couple years ago when I started gaining all this weight. So far I love this site and the people on it. I have commented on a few posts and gained a few friends from my posts. I like that it gives me a lot of food options and enters my food and exercise calories. I also like reading the blogs and posts from others. You all have been such inspiration. What really amazes me is the way my calorie allowance isn't so low that I feel hungry and deprived all the time. I have over 100 lbs to lose so I have started at a bigger amount of calories than if I was smaller, but this is very encouraging. I am learning to eat better, measure my food, making better choices before my calories are reduced too much. I also have started walking again., 2 miles 3 times last week. Last year I was using weight watchers online and was trying to start a walking program but I developed a bad case of plantar fasciitis That was a big bummer and I continued to gain weight, and I stopped WW because of the low calorie restriction.
So a little about me, I am 44 this year and went back to school last year to get my BSN in nursing. That has certainly been a challenge to meal planning, but I have a 3.94 GPA going into my 3rd year. I am so excited about this. It might not be as hard on me as others going back to school because I live alone now, but I still have challenges. I live in Ohio and work at a snack shop at a mall, so that can be rough. I lived in NC for a long time and I really miss the weather and people there.
Well I hope to meet a lot of great people on here, and please feel free to friend me! What a great site, with some really great people!

Congrats on your success, both with your weight loss and your GPA. I'm an RN and I went back to school when I was 43 to get my bachelor's. It's darn hard to keep a that GPA while working and raising a family. Good for you! I have found that this sight is a terrific inspiration so far and I hope that having some online friends will keep me on track. BFFs at home are way too understanding when I'm ready to call i quits.0
