I'm on new medication & have been feeling very sick & dizzy, one of the side effects is also weight gain. I can not go off these meds. But it's hard to exercise when I'm feeling like I am about to vomit... HELP?!?!?!

You really need to call your Dr! If you feel that bad, he/she should be able to do something for you .

Ahhh, paroxetine. Side-effects are quite common with that medication. Have you tried any other SSRIs? In other words, have you tried any other medications in that same drug class? They will have a similar side-effect profile but you may tolerate one much better than another with regards to feeling sick and dizzy.

Paroxetine is not something you'll want to stop cold-turkey. Usually a tapered-dose schedule is used to wean you off of the medication before switching.

I would stress to your doctor the severity of the side-effects because if they're interfering with your day-to-day life then the medication may not be appropriate for you.

Yes I have used many others over the past 6 or so years and they all give me the same side effects :(

If you've traversed that class of medication, there's not really any other viable alternative currently. There are tricyclic antidepressants but those also have side-effects (including weight-gain).

Have you talked to the physician about decreasing the dose at all? Maybe it's possible to find a lesser dose that controls your condition and also minimizes your side-effects.

I don't think decreasing the dose would help considering it is still not doing anything for my depression :( I'd say if anything it needs to be increased.. :/
