Hey, does anybody else get super super hungry after they work out?? I get so hungry after I am done but I am afraid to eat anything. Any ideas about killing the post workout munchies? Even if I do eat something I don't feel satisfied which leads to snacking HELP!!!

I used to have that problem after swimming, particularly. I just had some whey protein and I'd mix it up and drink it and it'd take care of it.0

Really?? After I work out I am typically less hungry than if I hadnt worked out, but i usually force myself to get down a little protein in some form or another. it is very good to get protein after a workout so maybe try and fuel that hunger with a protein shake or even a chicken breast or something like that. What time of day do you work out and when do you eat before that?0

One word. Ravenous. I could eat the kids if they don't watch out. Starving. Nothing cures it either. I could keep eating all day. hehe.0

EAT!
I eat right after I work out, usually anywhere from 7 to 10pm, and then eat again anywhere from 10:30 to midnight. Then go to bed.
Have your eating plan laid out (or mostly laid out) in advance. There's no excuse for snacking on junk food when you're stocked with good food.0 -
If I have a really intense workout, I'm starving. If I have a moderate one, it kills my appetite.0

I usually work out in the evenings. I try not to eat after I work out because I know I will be hungry!0

This is how I am after working out. I feel really hungry sometimes before a workout, but after no appetite at all. So I always do my protein shakes after working out because I am doing good just to get that in me.0 -
Oh i don't snack on junk food! Lol just tons of fruit of veggies or a piece of meat if I can get my hands on it. No junk food0
-
It depends on when I work out and when I last ate. Generally I find myself ravenous the following day if I don't eat back most of my exercise calories, rather than starving immediately following my workout.0

alright then! what's the issue?0 -

Ahahahaha! lol dont eat the kidsss! but yeah i feel this way after swimming! but if you truly feel hungry after you work out try basing ur meals after working out? Like i work out in the evenings so ill postpone my dinner til after the workout ....but other than this i have nooo ideas0 -

Hahahaha just not being able to stop. I don't get full0 -
Whenever I do a lot of cardio I get a serious case of the munchies. I save dinner for after my workouts now to curb that craving.0
-
Maybe that's it! I do a pretty good bit of cardio, especially when I dance. I try to postpone my workouts till after but sometimes I'm too hungry to wait0

THe V8 one shot right after working out staves off my hunger until I get home to make a decent meal.

I see that most people say they are hungry after working out. I'm just the opposite. The more I work, the harder I work, whether it's actual exercise, or putting up fence posts, the less hungry I am! I think tired trumps hungry for me!!!0

I'm usually hungriest after swimming. My favorite go to is a protein shake and/or 1 slice of whole grain bread with PB&J!0
-
Lol it's weird how some people do get hungry and some don't! I wish I didn't. I don't like feeling unsatisfied!0

protein drinks will curve your hunger, and bulid mucle0

Looks like you have a bit of wiggle room to eat some more. On many days it seems you're not even netting 1200 cals. I would do a couple of things:
1. make sure you hit your calorie goal as close as possible (a little over or under is ok)
2. eat more protein. go for at least 100g / day
3. start tracking fiber and make sure to meet or exceed your fiber goal
What's your weight loss setting set to? Consider setting it to 1 lb/week, no higher.0 -
I find I am scared to eat more than my calorie goal...... I know I am exercising every day and eating good but I do not like the idea of eating more. It's hard for me to eat that much too without eating badly.0

I usually have a protein shake with skim milk and that usually lasts but if im still peckish i will have a small hand full of almonds or pretzels. I always workout before dinner because i go crazy with hunger after so if i had tea before, i would need to snack again!! Balance Divine chocolate protein shake is amazing, i get excited knowing im going to have one haha0
-
Oh man that sounds like a treat!! I would work out just for one of those!0
-
For some reason, I always fiend for chicken or beef after I work out....It must be a protein thing haha I have learned that a 1/2 portion of a protein shake ( I use Muscle Milk Light Powder - Vanilla Creme) does just the trick to curb the hunger feeling and it's not a lot of calories to pack on afterwards.0

Well try to at least hit your calorie goal; you don't have to go over. Like i said you're netting below 1200 on many days. That's not eating well; it's eating poorly. As far as eating more and keeping it healthy, just plan ahead.
It can be done. Take fear out of the equation. Ignore the fear. It's irrational.0 -
Lol easier said than done. I do really try to eat my calorie goal. I just don't hit it very often0
-
Well I'm pretty much confused now.0

Never mind then, thank you for the advice!0

Problem is, you really aren't hitting your goal with working out after you add in your workout points. You feel hungry because you aren't eating enough, in my opinion. Have you noticed it's hard to lose weight or are you still losing? Also, I workout from 8-915 every night. I take a shower and then make a protein shake (1 scoop of EAS Whey Protein powder and 8 oz of fat free milk). Keep in mind different types of protein break down faster. Whey protein (which can be taken with water) breaks down in 30 minutes to an hour. This means it goes through your system quickly. Also, you have an hour timeframe, post workout, where your body is primed to take in nutrients. This is the best time to take in some protein. Ammino acids are critical to muscle growth.
Next, your diet is rather lacking. it seems liek there is a ton of processed foods and fast food. You need to get better foods like chicken breast, turkey (the white meat), and ham, and maybe some eggs. Also, I woud look to reduce your carbs and add a bit more protein. If you give more information, i can probably help. If you don't mind me telling me your weight (on here or over private message). This way i can calculate your BMR to see if you are eating enough. But generally, when your says feed me, you should. Food is fuel and if you don't have enough fuel, you won't lose and you won't have energy.0 -
My weight is 161 and im 5'5. Im not sure what processed foods you're talking about. I thought I was doing really well I have been losing weight very slowly though. Any advice is welcome0
