Good Evening,

Looking for anyone advice anyone can give. I started using MFP around 2 weeks ago and was doing well at home. Problem is now I am at work. I work offshore on a vessel. A few problems with this.

1: I can't weigh my food or scan any barcodes. Everything is prepared for us and then we help ourselves from a wide selection. It is a varied choice so I have been choosing healthy options but I have to guess the weight of things/portion sizes etc Anyone in a similar postion?

2: I won't know if I am guessing correctly as I can't use scales onboard, due to the movement of the vessel. I won't be able to weigh myself for 3 weeks. I work 3 weeks on then 3 off.

3: My shift pattern changes during the 3 weeks I am on here. Usually Dayshift then nights then back todays throughout the 3 weeks. Anyone had any problems with this? We do have a gym onboard which is good.

Any advice appreciated.

    Wow, that sounds tough.

If I were you I would look into visual portion size guidelines. It is certainly not as accurate as weighing but will help.

    Something like this:

If you cannot log, just eat less and exercise. Many people have lost weight this way. Counting calories isn't required. You'll know what your doing is working when your clothes start getting bigger. :)

If you cant use a scale, you could try taking measurements to keep track of your progress. Also, I would err on the side of overestimating when picking portions and entries.
