Hey there I started MFP June 1st 2015 SW:168 I am a 5'5 23 year old female. I don't work out I go to school and a full time mother. So needless to say I was categorised as over weight that scared the hell out of me, I was always tired always bloated always depressed. I lost myself but now today my CW:150 im in my ideal weight range and now I'm currently plateaued for a few weeks thinking its time to start weighing my food and hitting up the gym. Anyways I wanted to see if anyone else had been put on steroids I have an upper respiratory virus that required a dosage pack of steroids never taken them before and the side effects suck. Extreme appetite I'm talking I think about food right after I eat, cramps and bloating its pure misery. What were your side effects? Please add me!

I've had to do large steroid doses in the past, and the ravenous appetite is my main side effect. I find in general I can control is to some extent by drinking water or decaf tea CONSTANTLY, and really being careful to keep tracking my food closely.

The steroids are definitely no joke hungry all the time and I'm definitely not like that normally I can have my meal replacement shake and 2 meals and be fine but man its hard to do that on the steroids I haven't gained weight I just hate that feeling u know what I mean.

I have no experience with steroid use in humans. But the vet put my little shih-Tzu on steroids for allergies and weight gain, and she ate like a horse! She packed on the weight very quickly.

Steroids like that can cause appetite change, yes. They don't for me, but antibiotoics kill my appetite, so it's one of those things that it's a known side effect, and everyone will react differently.
