I have a tendency to make unrealistic goals...Can't help it...they just pop in my head and then stick! *sigh*

So I'm at 235...one "goal" that decided to start bugging me was to be in the 220's (like 229) By July 26th. Possible?

Then there is my Birthday...My birthday haunts me....as does my goal weight. When I first started in Oct 2010 I wanted to be at my goal of 160 by the Vacation coming up (July 26th)...and being so far away from that, was really discouraging. I gave up goals all together for a while... But my birthday is in September... and as much as I push it out of my head, I want some grand major achievement for my birthday....

So...2nd "goal" to be in ONEderland (even just 199)...by September 13th. What do you think, possible?

I felt the need to get these out of my head, and get some opinions on them. If you think I'm going to drive myself crazy because these aren't that attainable, please let me know! :)

Thanks!

That's a 6lb loss to your birthday, which at your current weight will be way more than feasible - it's like 1lb a week!

As for your onederland goal, that may be a bit more ambitious (36lbs in 14 weeks), but it isn't an impossible goal, depending on your weekly losses. I also find goal-setting a bit of a tricky area - I either underestimate myself and then get "lazy" because I'm nearly there anyway, or I overestimate myself and then feel bad if I don't hit the goal! It's a bit of a landmine!

That's how I feel about it...landmine! I'll have to remember that, its like the perfect description.

there is no such thing as "unrealistic goals"....

Aim for them! If you fail, Get up and Aim even higher and keep trying.

    Don't quit on yourself.

You set a goal now go after it!! and CRUSH IT!!

I have given myself a long term goal; to lose 100lbs, I haven't set a date on it and may get smaller and decide that 100lbs is too much for me or too little. I am not sure yet because I want to go from more what I look like rather than what I weigh.

I think that it is bad to put extra pressure on yourself because anything that makes you feel like a failure in this is just damaging to yourself. Especially considering you have lost 37lbs so far, that is an amazing achievement and such a great start, you should be proud of that every day and every lb lost should be something to celebrate, not feeling bad because you didn't lose more or by a certain time.

This is just MY opinion and I know some people like to have a time limit but it's definitely not for me!

I think you can for sure make it to your July 26th goal with no problems. You are already maintaining a 1lb a week weightloss since youve started.

Like Fattack said 36lbs, in approx. 12 weeks, might be hard. That would put you at a 3lb a week weightloss. I believe when someone puts their mind to it, they can achieve anything. Im just worried that something like that would be unhealthy and jeopadize the rest of your journey. In reality, you would need to have a caloric deficit of 10500 per week to lose the 3 lbs. If you truely want to get there, do the calculations with food and exercise and plan out your next 3 months so that you can get the 3lbs a week.

Have you thought of a different goal by bday? Like inches instead of lbs? a pair of jeans or a dress youd like to wear?

Whatever your goals, we are all here to help you, motivate and support you. Keep up the hard work young lady, you are doing amazing!

You have the same birthday as me! I have a goal for my birthday to be 12 stones - that's a 13lbs loss from today which is a bit more than a pound a week, but my loss has slowed right down, so I know it will be very hard. I've dropped you a friend request, we can work towards September 13th together and celebrate at the end!

    I don't know, girl...

You know I see these shows like the Biggest Loser, and Extreme Makeover and the like, and these people are losing this incredible amount of weight in three months, but I guess they are spending hours a day doing cardio. I'm not sure what your schedule is like, but if you can push your cardio up a little every day? You might be able to get REALLY close, if not on it by September. (BTW, my mom's birthday is on the 13th, too...) :flowerforyou: Keep at it...you might surprise yourself, and then feel all invincible, and stuff.

Ya this is why I'm a little worried about it....I'm losing...which is good. I mean 35lbs is nothing to stick my nose up at....but I've had MFP set to 2lbs a week loss since the beginning, and only losing 1 because of LIFE. lol You know how it goes. Things come up, vacations, birthday parties, bad weekends of booze and food....TOM...*sigh*

Part of me wants too keep it, in hopes it will really get my butt in gear....another part of me is like don't set yourself up for failure.
