Experiencing Random Warmth and Flushing in My Face - CNS

I've been doing the Carb Nite Solution for about a year now. I've had some moderate weight loss and in general like the program. I had hit a stall so decided to do a fat fast for four days. I didn't lose a ton of weight, but whatever. It was worth a try.

Anyway, one unexpected side effect is that for the past three days I've been experiencing random warmth and flushing in my face. I don't feel hot all over, just my face. It was off and on the last few days but I feel like it has been all day today. I started the fat fast on Monday, started feeling the flushes on Wednesday, and was back to my normal ULC eating today. I don't have any other random symptoms nor do I feel remotely sick.

I'm 31 so I'm skeptical that it Menopause even though I know it is possible to start menopause this young.

Anyone else ever experience this doing ULC eating or the Fat Fast? I'm having a hard time finding answers.

What did you eat the day before you started the fat fast and what did you eat on your fat fast and did you add any new supplements (niacin for one can cause flushing).

Not a doctor or even pretending to play one on MFP, but the words fat fast seem to have triggered some vague memory for me that too many eggs flushes my face, among other things far less pleasant. I know some people eat them on fat fasts. But that doesn't happen to everyone.

I tend to be pretty low carb in general with my eating. My weekend however was much higher in carb intake. I haven't changed my supplements at all. I eat eggs every day regularly and did so on the fat fast as well.

Sounds like a question for your doctor.

Did you eat more eggs than usual when you fasted? Again, not a doctor, this is specific to me, but I can eat eggs no problem. As long as I don't eat more than two or three a day and as long as that isn't my main source of calories for more than a day.

I do flush after a carby feeding frenzy, but that's always the night of the feast. I wake up around 2 or 3 am with an idea of what hot flashes are going to be like when I hit menopause.

Since a very low carb diet is prescribed by a doctor for a medical problem,
you need to get back in touch with whatever doctor put you on it to discuss these issues.

If you're just trying random stupid c*** you've read about on the internet or seen on late-night infomercials,
stop. Go see your doctor to be sure you haven't damaged your health.

Hormonal imbalance can cause hot flashes, so if you're not of an age to expect those, see your doctor.

BTW, if you've been eating this way for a year and are only now having this problem,
see your doctor. Something has changed. Make sure it isn't serious.

Eating too much niacin (vitamin B-3) can cause flushing. See if you're substantially exceeding the RDA.

According to the USDA, a whole large egg has
    4.76 g fat

If that doesn't come up to the right page, search for

to get more nutritional info about eggs than you really want.

    For niacin...
