Weight gain after not exercising but still eating well

Hey y'all. Everytime I take a couple days off at the gym I end up gaining weight regardless od my food intake being on point. (Yes I weigh everyday but I only record once a week, I have a sick curiosity haha) I'm wondering if anyone knows the science behind this or the simple reason for it...

Most likely, your muscles are repairing and retaining water.

Seems like taking a couple of days off from the gym shouldn't affect your weight. Let's say you burn 500 calories when you go to the gym. Miss two days a week, that's 1,000 calories you didn't burn. That would only be less than a third of a pound gained, which wouldn't even show on your scale. Could just be a coincidence. Wish I could help more.

As mentioned, the body repairs at rest. "Recharging" the body with glycogen and water for repair is common. While we do want the scale to go down, weight loss isn't linear.
