Holiday Binge...

I'm Canadian, that means it's Thanksgiving. In order to celebrate the holiday, after losing 60lbs, being only 5lbs from my first offical goal, giving up my entire summer for the sake of exercise, and going months and months eating totally clean and below my maximum calorie intake... I decided that it would be nice to indulge a little bit for the holiday. Only for today, and tomorrow I'll be right back on track. That didn't happen as planned. I binged. Hard. I'm talking, it went from having white bread instead of thin-cut wheat bread to wagonwheels and raison cookies within minutes. I feel so, so, so terrible and paranoid about my weight. I'd been doing so well, but now I'm worried I'm going to swell up a pant size or twelve. Does this happen to anyone else? This won't /actually/ cause any major weight gain will it??? FML TT.TT Happy Thanksgiving, Canadians.

You've done such a great job! Congrats! Holidays are tough for anyone trying to eat healthy or gain weight. You enjoyed yourself! Maybe a little too much, but that's okay. Remember, you have to eat 3500 cals in excess of maintenance to gain a pound. That's a lot of food. Chances are you did not gain much in terms of actual fat. If you see the scale go up more than expected tomorrow, know that it's mostly water weight and it will go away when you resume your usual routine. Don't punish yourself too much for overindulging one time. You're doing a wonderful job and are so close to the finish line! Be kind to yourself, and good luck0

I ate 4000+ calories for Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, and Christmas, last year. I survived.
I mean, even if you ate 2000 extra calories like I typically do (that would be 4200 calories total for me), if you have a 1/5 pound loss a week goal, it will just take a week to make up for it... it's not a huge deal at all. Plus you might not be hungry tomorrow and eat less too.
Just get back on track tomorrow!0 -
You aren't going to gain a pants size. You might get bloated from sodium for the next few days, but just log it and move on. This is a lifestyle change. You can't get so down on yourself every time you steer off course. Otherwise you will have one challenging life in the long run. Enjoy your holiday knowing it only happens once a year. You will be fine.0
