Hi there. I ate some sweet potato fries at a restaurant earlier, and was wondering what people thought the calories for them were (pic attached) Are they healthier than normal fries?

(I didn't eat much else today - 30g of Cheerios, a carrot and cocoa with water so am hoping to still be around the 1200 mark)

If it is a chain restaurant, look to see if you can find it in the food database.

Oven baked sweet potato fries at home are fantastic. Cut into french fry shape. Take some olive oil (depending on how many fries you're making) and toss fries until lightly coated. Place in single (ish) layer on sprayed cookie sheet and bake until lightly crispy, turning about every 10 to 15 minutes.

You can tell I'm really exact on my recipes.

For an extra little something, a little salt and pepper before baking is nice or some chili powder and salt. Hmmmm yum!

I'd log it at 500-600 calories.

I use a tablespoon of oil per pound of sweet potatoes, but I chop them into bigger chunks than french fry shape. I also add 1/4 t salt and 1/4 t chipotle powder.

I eat sweet potato fries all the time. Except I actually bake them so there's less calories. Sweet potatoes are nutritionally great. Don't worry, fried sweet potato fries are probably a few hundred calories, maybe 500 cals with ketchup.
