Hello
I am new to MFP and have gained 17 kg (38 lbs) since 5 years and really want to lose them!
I signed up for the 1200 kcal per day
Is that too much if i am planning to lose weight not too slowly?
My question is do i Need to cut out carbs ( especially bread) or it doesnt matter if i am within my calorie intake?

1200 is the minimum recommended amount that a woman should eat, so unless you're especially short or old or inactive, you shouldn't eat below 1200. There are very few people for which 1200 would be too much!
You don't need to avoid any types of food unless you have a medical condition that requires you to do so. All you need to do is stick to your calories.0 -
Welcome to MFP! I've been here just under 2 months. What helped me the most in the beginning was to spend a few days just logging what I ate, and seeing what happened with the calories, carbs, protein, and fat. After that, it was pretty easy to cut portion sizes and eliminate some foods. You will learn which foods work best for you to fill you up so you don't feel hungry and still stay close to your calorie goal. I would recommend a kitchen scale so you can weigh your food and keep the logging as accurate as possible.
I don't think of this as a diet. It's more a life style change so I can lose weight and keep it off.
Good luck with your journey and keep us posted.0 -
You don't need to cut anything. 1200 will be your base (determined by the goals you specified) and you will earn more through exercise. Remember that MFP already has the deficit built in.0

You can eat a high-carb diet and still lose weight. Many people like to cut them way down and some have to, but for weight loss alone, you could eat nothing but carbs and still lose weight.
If MFP gives you 1200, go with it. See how that goes.
Eat right, exercise and get enough sleep. Good luck!0
