                    Hey everyone!
I have realized that I really like drinking a protein shake in the morning after my morning workouts (as a meal replacement for breakfast), but I want to make sure I am doing the right thing. I certainly don't want to gain any weight and I want lean muscles, not big huge muscles. I am a beginner at everyhing, and am currently working my way throuh 30 Day Shred (on day 15). I plan to continue with the cardio/strength training regimen after I finish as well.
A GNC employee recomended the Amplified Whybolic Extreme 60, which tastes great, but it is pricey and I am not sure if that is really what I need. What would you guys reccommend?

I got duped into buying that when I first went out to buy protein powder. No, you do not need to spend that much on protein powder. I believe that particular powder is geared towards weight/muscle gain. I would go on bodybuilding.com and order the Optimum Nutrition 100% Whey powder (I'm partial to chocolate anything).
I drink a protein shake after my workout but as a recovery drink. I still eat breakfast. I would think that only having a protein shake for breakfast (if you're not adding more in there) isn't sufficient enough.0

Hey there. I have the wheybolic extreme 60 and my husband and I love it. We have the banana and strawberry flavors.0

My first advice is to stay away from GNC. They support a lot of extreme weight loss strategies & their pills & powders often contain controversial ingredients. Go into your local health food store & ask to see the powders they carry. The store I used to frequent was run by a marathon runner, so she knew exactly what a body in training needs! I ended up getting a powder that GNC also carries, but I wasn't bombarded with adds for unsafe diet pills, etc. and I was supporting a healthy local business.0

I just bought Pro 5 from Nutrashop, it is very low carb and over 30 grams protein. The banana flavor is delish.
145 calories per scoop, 32 grams protein, 2 carbs, 1 gram fat, 1 gram sugar.0

The Wheybolic Extreme is 280 cals, so that plus coffee keeps me really full until lunch (but I eat lunch early). If I could find a protein powder that was less cals, I would certianly keep eating a light breakfast as well!I got duped into buying that when I first went out to buy protein powder. A lot of those expensive powders have a lot of supplements that really only bodybuilders would care much about. If you're mainly concerned about the protein, they almost all use whey protein. Costco sells a few types for good prices. I personally use the individual ready-to-drink Muscle Milk Light for post-workout, but they also have bagged whey protein powder that is very cheap for how much is in the bag. Just find one that has a taste and texture that you like.0

I would definitely check out the Optimum Nutrition or EAS 100% Whey protein powders. The one thing I didn't like about the Wheybolic is that you had to use 3 scoops and there was just too much protein. I mean, can the body really process all of that protein at one time? My body does very well using plain ole whey after a workout.

I researched the Jay Robb's Whey protein powder and also asked some people on here and some agreed it was good. It is less calories (110 calories I think it was) and does not have the added sugar and fat. I think it is sweetened with Stevia. I havent tried it yet but I am picking it up today actually. Someone said it was expensive. I checked and it said $23 for 12 oz package. I'm going to check it out though. Good Luck!!0

I also have a protien shake for breakfast. I am using the GNC pro performance 95. It is a soy bsed protien. I also add to it, liquid egg whites, carnation instant breakfast, soy milk in place of water, and another protien supplement. I try to get the bulk of my calories from protien.0

My bootcamp trainer suggests always having a protein shake within 20 minutes of a work out, this will help replenish your body and will prevent your body from going into starvation mode and breaking down muscle mass. I also read this somewhere else the other article also suggested having a light protein rich snack before the work out (like half a protein bar) to fuel the work out ahead.0

That's my mainstay powder (EAS) - it's really yummy. But the ON has more flavors. And now I'm going on Amazon to see what kind of deals they're having. Hope you like it!!0

I like Gaspari Nutrition MyoFusion Vanilla Whey Protein. It is the best tasting protein I have come across.0
