I Have an elliptical and can not stay on it for more than 3 min. My upper legs feel like they are gonna give out. Are there any exercises that I should start with to increase that leg strength? I have a bum knee from surgery over 15 years ago and I don't trust it. Any ideas?

Ahhh, the elliptical; my worst enemy! I would say just walking (or jogging, if you're up for it) should help a little. I, however, have been hitting the gym since December and can still only do 2-3 minutes before my legs want to give out. Good luck!0

Try do leg squats. I use a ball. Place it at the lower part of my back. Keep legs shoulder width apart. Knees over ankles. lower you self to a comfortable squat. Then go back up slowly. If you do not have ball try a chair squat.
Again legs should width apart. Use a chair with out arms. lower yourself towards the chair as if you are going to sit but only go about 2-3 inches from the chair hold it for 5 sec. If you can. Then stand up again.0 -
OKay - secret admission - I am soooooo jealous of the people at the gym that can can on the elliptical and go at it for 30-60 minutes! How do they do it ?!?!?!? I went on for the first time this past Saturday and after 5 minutes said, "Ok, I am done with this machine!" LOL0
