Basically I'm depressed I think I ate all the calories I needed today, and I was going to save some for the movie theatre with my best friend later. I. Ate two slices of rye bread with low sugar jam for breakfast, then I had a small double double coffee and a handful of grapes. Then for lunch I had those warm up burritos, it was around 360 calories. I wolfed down a yogurt bar afterwords, but the same cupboard I got my bar from there was cookies and I had two small soft baked ones. I inputting this on the app and I started to panick since I had around 600 something calories left for the day and wasn't sure it was enough for popcorn. I got upset with myself and told my boyfriend to leave because I needed to be alone to grieve. I think I have an eating disorder and it's killing me, messing up my mindset. I want to keep being skinny but I want to eat the foods I love. I have no time to workout.

Call an eating disorder therapist and make an appointment. Today.

first yes eat the popcorn!
Next you should see a doctor or therapist or both if you think you have an eating disorder. You could talk to a parent, or friend first if that would make it easier - they could go with you.0 -
Hi there.
I agree with the above. *hugs*
How many total calories do you consume per day? Can you post your stats (height, age, current weight, goal weight, activity level, exercise)?
I'd say 600 is enough for popcorn if you have a reasonable caloric goal. Search for the theater popcorn in the food database in advance to see how much you can fit into your daily goal.0 -
If you think you have an eating disorder, then you need to speak with a professional to determine if you really do0

If I ate toast for breakfast and a microwave burrito for lunch, I'd be hungry too. You don't have an eating disorder. The food you ate probably wasn't that filling. For me, toast never fills me up. I could eat the whole loaf.
Also 600 calories for dinner and popcorn should be fine. I've got like 370 calories left for dinner as I've allocated 300 of my calories for a beer tasting thing I'm going to. I'll get a salad with chicken breast in it. It will be fine.0 -
Movie theater popcorn has a whole lot more calories than 'they' want you to believe.

Just eat some of the popcorn. Log it and move on. You should not be grieving because you go over your daily allotted calorie intake. You are human and its ok to go over once in a while. Log it and move on...However you are attaching emotions with food.
If you think you have a eating disorder you should talk to a professional. Also you should find time to workout then you will be able to enjoy more of the food you desire.
Try more proteins, you will feel full longer.0 -
This decribes how I ate for the first 50 years of my life.
1. No plan
2. No thought
3. Open a cupboard and see what looks good.
4. Feel guilty
5. Feel guilty
6. Feel guilty
7. Repeat
I notice that these are mostly high carb foods.
My turning point was when I realized that carbs make me hungry and out of control. I read up on low carb diets. Chose foods I liked and made a plan to shop, prep and cook better choices.
It wasn't a fast change, it took a full year to really feel in control but now I take food with me every day when I go out, plan ahead when I eat out and I don't feel guilty any more.

First of all, yes, you can definitely enjoy some popcorn at the movies. You have 600 calories left for the day! Your goal on here already has a deficit -- you don't need to eat less than your goal. Eat right up to it!
Second of all, I'm so sorry you're unhappy and frightened. Please consider calling a professional or at least a trusted friend/family member to start helping you unravel the tangle of your emotions and eating. You don't deserve to be miserable. You deserve to be happy and healthy and confident.0 -
One thing you have to keep reminding yourself until it sticks is that going over for the day isn't the end of your progress. Everyone has days they go over, by accident, with unexpected dinners out, holidays, etc. Just log it and start fresh the next day. Don't use it as an excuse to eat more, but you have to find a way to learn that it's not going to sabatoge you and it doesn't make you a failure. It just makes you human. Learn to forgive yourself for mistakes and start over. Every day is a chance to start fresh, so use it.
As for the popcorn, if you make it yourself, you can keep it pretty low calorie. I measured it out once, and one serving of popcorn (the one i use is three tablespoons unpopped) in just enough oil to cover the bottom of the pan (about half a tablespoon should be enough, depending on the size of your pan), drizzled with 1 tablespoon of melted butter is only around 150-200 calories, depending on the oil you use. I like it super salty, so it helps get rid of the salt cravings I have, fills me up for a while, and is easy to fit into my day. Winning!0 -
Leaving aside the issue of an eating disorder, your day sounds high on carbs and low on protein, which would put me out of whack too.0

You have a disordered mind-set when it comes to food and you need to seek medically help. I mean that in the nicest, friendliest way possible - trust me I understand the struggle as I too used to suffer from disordered thinking. Forget about today, log what you've eaten and move on. Food should not rule your life.0
