How many calories do you aim to burn? (WEIGHT LOSS)

When you go to the gym, how many calories do you aim to burn each day?
I am aiming to lose another 60lbs and wanting to see f what I am doing is comparable to others.

Calorie burn will depend on workout type. Workout type will depend upon fitness goals. Instead of a calorie burn goal, why not a fitness goal?

Most of your deficit is going to be from eating less.

My exercise goals aren't related to weight loss. I hope to continue exercise long after the weight is gone (this time). Exercise should be a lifestyle change too.

I don't have a goal calorie burn for exercise. I just do my workout.

I don't exercise for calories burned. I exercise either because I enjoy it (walking, etc.) or for training (strength or HIIT). For me, diet drives weight loss, exercise drives other aspects of fitness. It's exercise that's the reason I can climb stairs and not gasp for breath like a dying tilapia when I reach the top.

    This^

I just aim to get through the workout my trainer has laid out without dying from exhaustion or dropping something heavy on myself. Sometimes I drop stuff on myself... thank Hastur for spotters.

It all depends on what you are trying to do. Lifting doesn't burn a lot of calories during workout, but the muscle helps you burn calories day to day. If you are more worried about weight loss, cardio helps burn calories fairly quick, but you really don't even have to hit the gym for that either.

When I head out on my bike I usually want to burn 500+, often near 1000, occasionally up around 2000.

I think I only burn 1/5 of a lb a week's worth of calories through intentional exercise :) I don't do things that burn a lot of calories long enough for my routine to make much of a dent that way. I do concentrate on muscle, so that does help with calories in the long run.
