My hubby and I are celebrating our 9th anniversary today! Yay! The only downside....he surprised me and we are going out w/o this kids to The Melting Pot. In our small town, this place is the Mecca of romantic dining, but how in the world am I supposed to survive while staying with my 1390 cals a day? I have already had 780! Not much left for a big splurge. If I go over the mark, how many days will it take to work it off?

I think you need to hit the gym so you can earn more calories. Just a thought. You can eat, within reason, a full course meal at the Melting Pot for 1400-1600 calories. Look in the food database, and you can see what the calories are and know what to expect.0

prob a couple days but it will be worth it0

don't worry about it that night... one day is not going to undo everything you've done i promise. just start fresh the next day and hit them gym don't feel guilty. if you don't let yourself go over every once in awhile (an anniversary or birthday) you'll just binge out. enjoy!!0

You might just want to take a deep breath, enjoy the evening, and not worry if you go over. Melting Pot is super yummy and this is a special occasion. A real one, not like when I celebrate Tuesday so I can have what I want. I give myself one "splurge" meal a week where I don't worry about the calories too much. Make good decisions when possible (like maybe eat the cheese and desert courses slowly and savor them rather than quickly). Any viable diet needs to leave you room to breathe. Enjoy the evening, make the best decisions you can, and don't worry about it. Have a beautiful romantic night with your hubby and get back on track tomorrow!
Good luck and Congrats!0 -

Find out how many calories your Melting Pot dish is (let's say it's 700 calories, for example). Add that to 780 (which for example, would be 1480). If your daily caloric intake should be 1390, you would subtract 1390 from 1480 and get 90- which is the amount over (for example) that you would be. You'd take 90 and divide that by the number of days you work out- let's say you work out 3 days a week. That would mean you would have to exercise 30 more calories on top of your regular burn for 3 days in order to burn off that supposed amount and be back on track.
Hope this example helps!0 -
I agree! It's a special occasion, don't worry too much. With that said, don't gorge yourself either. One good thing about the melting pot is it does take a little longer to eat and dine there, allowing your stomach to truly tell your brain its full. So, take your time and enjoy and start tomorrow as a new day.0

Thank you everyone for your help! I will try to relax and enjoy the evening not stressing about calories is going to be nice but I won't go crazy. Just need to figure out how to get to the gym (I have a 9 mo old and a 4 yr old and work ful time from home) the exercise part has been the only thing that I haven't figured out how to add consistently to my life just yet.
Thanks again everyone!0 -
Ya know what? Just go and enjoy. One spike day will not hurt you in the long run. Workout if you can, but if not, DON'T SWEAT IT!
Happy Anniversary, btw!0
