How to keep yourself motivated to go to the gym when the winter comes?

It started to get chilly and I'm scared once winter comes I will fall off my new workout routine. Help! I don't want to fail this time. Any tips or suggestions?
Also feel free too add me... I need all the support I can get.

When I had a gym membership, I always looked forward to how warm I would be working out.
Heck, even without one, I sometimes work out just to warm up.0 -
It's just the same thing except you have to put a coat on.0

Last winter I found the prospect of having to clean the car really started to be a problem. Even nights where frost just settled on started to be demotivating because it was dark and I needed to get it done quickly in order to meet my trainer on time.
This year? I'm parking the car in the garage. Problem solved.
I didn't find the cold to be a real issue, tbh.0 -
Fall and winter are the only time I consistently go to the gym. Spring and summer are just too nice to be inside.
Maybe sign up for a couple of classes to get into the rhythm of going.

This summer when it was too hot and humid to do my walk comfortably outside, I joined the gym. I hope I will be so in the grove of exercise and fitness, I will be itching to go to the gym by the time the snow flies.0

Just something I do almost every day. I make a list and write down exercise and stretching and then check it off. Maybe take classes so it helps to have a set time to be at gym. Also I go with friends or meet them at the gym and it makes it less likely for me to turn the alarm off in the morning and stay in bed. And the best reason of all, I feel better the rest of the day when I exercise. Enjoy the gym in the winter because when it is below freezing outside it makes my nose run and I have trouble breathing while exercising.0

I guess it comes down to how bad I want it. Thanks guys I'm just going to stop thinking about it and do it. Unfortunately, the gym I go to (Planet Fitness) doesn't offer any classes0

My electric blankie. I turn it on before I go out for my run.0

Heck, that's the best time!!0

Make it habit. It is my habit to go to the dojo every Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday. Rain shine snow or fair weather. Tired, sore, stressed, emotional whatever. I go. No exceptions. No excuses.
I've never regretted going to class.

I'm not sure yet. But I'm actually really looking forward to the heated pool and spa when it's snow and ice outside.0 -
Think about how great your going to look and feel next summer set goals for the summer n stay dedicated to meeting or breaking them. My goal is to feel comfortable in a bathing suit by next summer!0

I don't really have that problem because I live in FL.
I have the opposite problem in which during the extremely hot and humid summer months, I can't run outside and must go to the gym and revert to cardio classes and the treadmill. During the fall and winter at least some point during the day it's really nice outside.
Maybe you need to change the way you look it.0 -
Don't question it just do it - you'll feel great when you're there & you know others are wussing out0

Agreed! Nothing warms you up better than a sweaty workout! Spend some of those free workout calories on a mug of hot chocolate afterward....now that's motivation!

^^so true^^ and I am so not a gym rat.
I'm with the Texans also, in that summer is the problem. I can identify with others in other climates, but my personal challenge is summer. My exercise is outdoors mostly, so I shift the hours later or earlier to get temps I can endure.0 -

Same problem here. It's not even summer here yet and it is HOT. It's nice to have longer days but my gym isn't air conditioned and most sessions are a combination of inside/outside. Lovely in winter and perfection in autumn. In summer when it's still 33 degrees (90 for you Fahrenheit people) at 7pm, the air feels too thick to breathe and you could literally burn yourself touching the pavement...it's less attractive. *decides to stay on the couch for summer*0 -
I don't know...I don't "go to the gym" anymore, I train. I can't just not train because it's cold out. It's part of my life.0

If you really want to lose weight, you will not let cold weather stop you. You won't let anything stop you.0

Remember it's only a short time until your gym gets overrun with resolutioners and you won't be able to move for 6 weeks0

The only problem I have with the colder climate is that I walk to work (30 minutes each way) and once the snow hits, it's going to take longer and well, be cold! But, I also know that not only do I love my walk (calming, even if I have to walk fast because I'm a bit late) but at least *I* won't get stuck in traffic due to the snow chaos like the bus will.
As for going to the gym; I go so early in the morning, even on days when it's warmer in the afternoon, it's freezing in the morning (still night I guess) but I just have to remind myself to put more clothes on and get going!0 -
