After doing some quick research I am under the impression that you need 20-30 % of your diet from fats (mono/polysaturated) of that you should have no more then 7% saturated? My daily nutrition table gives me a 0 on both mono and poly and for saturated 34g which even at the minimum of 7% it is way below what I considered a healthy amount. My caloric intake is 3050. Help haha. What am I reading into wrong?

Odds are the items you are logging either don't contain enough fat, or the entries are wrong. You're diary is not open so I can't take a look at your logs to see potential problems.

    Maybe

No, not sure where you got that info. Saturated fat isn't bad for you.

What?? I thought you just said that 7% should be your max, now you're worried about getting at least 7%? You're not making sense...

I treat proteins as a minimum and the rest I just keep below my calorie allotment for the day. Fats are good for satiety and they add up quickly. I usually have no trouble filling them. Do you ever snack on nuts? Eat the egg with the yolk? Cheese? Salad dressing? Chances are you are fine.

Since the FDA doesn't give any recommendations for the amount of poly/monounsaturated fats, that's why MFP doesn't set a goal for them.

Not sure what article you are looking at, but personally I would focus ,more on saturated fat than polyunsaturated.

Sorry wasn't super clear my understanding was 7 of the 34 "could" be saturated. I'll just do more research however I got the answer I needed. Thanks man.

What I'm reading here is they recommend only 10% of your calories come from saturated fats. The 7% number is just for people who already have health issues and are looking to further reduce their risk. For a 3,000 calorie diet, this would make the recommendation of 33g saturated fats.

The rest of the fats in your diet should be of the polyunsaturated and monounsaturated varieties. MFP doesn't have a number for those because there is no official recommendation. It's basically the more the better within your overall fat goals.

There is new information regarding saturated fats and dietary cholesterol. Studies are showing it's not as bad a previously thought, but they haven't changed the official recommendations as of yet. I don't have links for any of those studies, but that's what I've read.

Yea! Alright that's exactly what I was questioning! Thank you. I was just concerned because basically everything I need for my carbs, and protein have fat... all my meats being saturated and everything else being mono and poly. When I saw my fats as negatives on the nutrition table I got confused. Appreciate it!

I agree. Saturated fats tend to be a bit healthier, and much more stable, than the polyunsaturated fats.

I tend to eat about 100-120 g of fat per day on a LCHF diet, so more than many.

Don't believe anything you have read.

Strive for a minimum of 0.40 grams dietary fat per 1 lb. body weight unless obese.

    That is all.
