Iron, is it better to go under or go over a bit each day?

Lets say for example,
you are a male with the rda set at 8 mg a day (this is what MFP uses for everyone). 100%
You eat cereal every morning.
Aldi Wheat bran, and you eat a lot.
2 sometimes 3 servings since you are a big hungry guy.
I think the serving size is only .75 a cup, so this could happen.
You realize that you are eating 3 times the RDA or iron.
The cereal per serving contains 50% or 4 mg (each serving).
Plus you like protein foods including chicken and beef which are high in iron.
On top of this you take a daily multi-vitamin.
So you realize that you need to cut down.
But do you keep under, or would you keep just slightly over.
Hard to keep exact RDA.
*all wheat bran cereal that i can afford is loaded with added vitamins

You're not even anywhere close to any levels of iron that could be harmful or even sub-optimal. Until you're reaching upwards of 40mg of iron, you're fine.0

lol wow..the micro nutrients should be the least of your worries tbh..0

Little iron is absorbed from iron enriched foods (such as cereals) compared to iron found in foods such as meat. Indeed, iron supplements are hundreds of times above the RDV because so little of it is actually absorbed. You don't need to worry about it.0

It's unlikely that you'll overdose yourself on iron by eating it or even with the multi. I cannot say what is best for you, though. Of course I cannot. Only your doctor can advise you on that.
I struggle to get enough iron and added breakfast cereals just to get more.
It would be so nice if we could all donate excesses to each other. I could get your iron and give someone who needs manganese some of mine, lol. I wish!0 -
