Never Quit

July 7, 2014, after a doctor appointment, I decided it was time to take better care of myself. So, I logged into MFP and started counting calories. I was 219.5 pounds. In September 2014, I decided to start exercising as Planet Fitness opened around the corner from my home. I made myself run on a treadmill for 20 minutes that first day without stopping. I did 1.63 miles. But, I haven't quit. At age 49, I completed my 3rd ever road race yesterday. A 5k where I live called the "Go Commando". I finished at 22 minutes and 31 seconds. First in the 45-49 year old category and 15th overall. I thank God daily for where I am, and never want to forget where I was. The bottom line is this, no matter what, keep working toward your goal. I never want to go back to where I began.

I didn't mention, I have been maintaining a weight of about 160 pounds since February of this year. I weighed in this morning at 157.0

About six years ago, I lost weight. I got down to 190 and then woke one day and started doing the same things I had before. I ended up heavier than before. Being healthier is a lifestyle, not a diet.0
