The price of the party

I've been waiting to have a special event so that we can see what that looks like on the trend graph. It finally happened yesterday -- a games night/party with chips, cheese & crackers, pepperoni sticks, cake, ice cream, and fruit and veggie trays with dips.
I knew I'd see the results today and sure enough my first bad weigh in since I started focusing on weight loss back at the end of July. This graph will update daily so that we can see how long it takes me to get the trend pointed down again:
I don't really need help/motivation, at least not today ... let's see how the week evolves!

Woah awesome!! I love numbers and graphs and mathematics. ..I have no idea of how to interpret or what I'm looking at but it's gotta be good if it's in graph form!!!0

Day two still looks grim. I'm on track today hope to see a data point below the trend soon enough!

So my week of recovery has been harsher than I'd like - I often find that after a big feed I have trouble focusing as strongly as before and this week was no exception. So instead of my usual ~ 1.5ish lb/week loss, this week is shaping up to look like 0.4lbs lost.
I guess next time I'll have to eat less

Finally back on track - two weeks of not being able to keep up the full plan, even worse than I expected. At least my weight loss only slowed and didn't reverse: but this is a great reminder for me of why I need to be restrained even at parties.
It really makes zero sense since I am a firm CICO believer, but my experience is a big exception makes the restraint of eating properly feel a lot more onerous for several days. And that can often lead - as it did this time - to a lot of "little" exceptions that day in, day out, undermine the overall speed of loss. This last week finally was more like what I generally expect to see and I'm pretty happy about that.
Unfortunately for me, starting tomorrow I'm traveling for 9 days. That means no scale, lots of restaurant food, and a little helping of extra stress! In other words, life does get in the way...
