For some reason no matter how hard I try its really hard to cut out sugar for my diet. The last 4 days in a row I had a lot more sugar than my recommended intake.

Can you guys offer me some advice on how to cut out sugar?

Take a good look at your diary and you can see a few easy things to cut out. Add some vegetables to your daily diet will help with feeling full and aare low in sugar.

    The can of regular soda.
The can of Monster energy drink
    The frosted Animal crackers

Seriously??? Not to be rude, but I just looked over the last wk of your diary, and you are eating a load of processed junk (mainly cookies!) every day!

If you seriously want to cut the sugar down (which would really help you immensly, esp. in terms in longterm health, not to mention weight loss), then you should "clean up" your diet. My diary is open - feel free to take a look. I am not the cleanest eater, but it will give you an idea of what I mean.

In most packaged stuff, there is an incredible amount of hidden sugars. If you eat REAL food (like meats, veggies, fruit (for the sweet tooth), your sugar count will go down dramatically, you will feel better, look better, and be SO much healthier. You can do it!!

If your sugar is coming from whole foods (like fruit), and is *not* refined, white, processed sugars....don't worry about it.

Just stop bringing the bad foods into the house and replace them with healthy fruits and veggies. Get some healthy nuts for snacks.

You won't lower your sugar until you stop eating the sugary processed foods. And once you stop eating them, your body will stop craving it.

Believe me, I was there...a total sugar addict! I still reward myself with an occasional sugary dessert, but it's not a part of my every day food choices. I'll always be a compulsive sugar eater, but if it's not in my house, then I don't crave it!

    Good luck!

I agree with others...the food you are eating is all loaded with sugar: soda, energy drinks, Girl Scout cookies, animal crackers...
  • I think that the more you eat sugar, the more you CRAVE sugar. It gets to be a cycle that is really hard to get out of. Try for one week, whenever you are craving sugar, eat a piece of fruit. No cakes, no cookies, no toast and jam, no ice cream, pudding, whatever. Just fruit -- not forever, but you can do it for a week. That'll help break your body out of the cycle.
  • Thanks (:
I just wasnt sure how to start cutting out junk food, I tried to cut it out all at once and it made me crave it.

I just wasnt sure how to start cutting out junk food, I tried to cut it out all at once and it made me crave it.

If you need to, try to do it slowly. Eliminate soda first, for instance. Then in a couple days, omit cookies, etc.

But in the long run, sometimes it is just best to get rid of it all right away.

And if you find yourself craving, make sure you are eating enough good quality calories. If you are depriving your body of calories and you are hungry, you are going to get desperate and grab the first thing you find, instead of taking the time to actually choose something that is a better food.

And empty calories do nothing to satisfy you, you'll be looking for something to eat in a few minutes after a sugary or empty meal.

This really helped me because I was way over on my sugar and was getting nervous but then when you said that we could eat all the fruits and veggies, it was okay. Thanks so much. I joined in March but never looked into the site and now that I am serious I find it extremely helpful. Thanks for all your help.
