Hello all, my name is Stephanie. Today is my first day using this app. I am 19 years old, I'm 5'0 and currently weigh 116 pounds. I began working out and eating healthy about 1 week ago. But I need some advice. I have always battled with my weight. I have high cholesterol and my doctors recommended me to lose weight. He recommended me to reach around 100 pounds, to lower my cholesterol. My problem is that every time I start working out and eating healthy, it doesn't last long. I would usually continue this routine for two months or so, seeing results, and then I would stop with the progress, which leads me to start gaining some weight back. I guess when I start seeing results, I slack off. I wanted to know if anyone may have some advice on how to stay motivated. Thank you.

Make obtainable goals that are specific.
Be able to measure your progress.
Reward yourself when you reach a short term goal.
Surround yourself with people who support your goals.
Plan for failure. If you start slacking what will you do to get yourself back on track? Create a plan that is made of checks and balances. Stick with it! You are almost to the point of making this a regular habit. Good luck0 -
My advice would be to slow down the weight loss process. There's lots of research showing that your body practically begs you to regain the weight if you lose it too quickly, through the action of hormones like leptin, ghrelin, YY etc. Studies show that even twelve months later these hormones are elevated (or suppressed as the case may be), causing hunger and cravings.0

Ok... Your doctor says you should weigh 100 lbs at 5'0... I find that disturbing but I don't know your build or medical history... I am 5'0 and am a size 0 when I weigh 115... If high cholesterol is really the issue... I would suggest that you consider discussing diet modification with a qualified nutritionist... And by diet modification I don't mean merely calorie cutting...
As to exercise most people can benefit from reasonable amounts of exercise...
Eat foods that are good for you and be active... Do not starve...
Anyone on the boards qualified to give the OP suggestions? I can only make guesses... But...0 -
Thanks all for your advice! Really helpful!0
