A little anxious but motivated all the same

Hi people.
Its great to see so many different support forums on MFP.
I am not new to MFP but having slipped in and out of it, certainly over many months, I am now taking what I consider to be my biggest challenge yet. I have recently retired after 35 years as a mental health nurse in the NHS and loved every minute of it. (I gave a lot, I got a lot back and the demands of the work also took a lot from me with stress and associated issues - comfort eating, another drink here and there . . and adopting a mañana mañana approach at times). Now it's all over and it's my turn to enjoy a new lease of life.
I have been using the gym intermittently with my wife over the past 8/9 weeks and saw the results of the trainer and a client (colleague of my wife) he has worked with for the past year - the guy has lost 5 stone! Amazing and inspirational.
For my birthday recently, my wife paid for PT sessions for me at our gym. I would like to lose about 4 stone (56lbs) over the course of the year which I believe I can do. I will be guided by the PT in the best direction to do this and will try and keep updates for others to see.

Welcome to mfp, if this is something that you want to do, then you can and will do it.
The only thing I would add... Is there any form of exercise that you enjoy doing outside of the gym? Even if it's just walking, 20 minutes each lunchtime can make a huge difference. Or if you have a newspaper delivered currently, can you walk to the local shop to pick it up instead?
Feel free to add as a friend if you'd like any support, it's always nice to get some likes when you drop a couple of pounds

Hi Paul, thank you for your comment. I am looking at putting more walking in generally - to shops and on an evening time. I'm not a big tv watcher, I leave that to the wife!0

You can do it! Your PT will help you, but just keep active outside the gym and at home! I too understand stress eating and am challenged the same way! Best of luck to you0

Apologies for late response, still getting to grips with MFP. Thanks for your comments.0

Well I had my first PT session last week and due again tomorrow. This went really well.
Have decided to check stats in a month so any loss can be more satisfying.
MFP has given me a target weight so I've put it as a screen saver on my tablet so its there as a reminder when I use tablet.
Really enjoying the gym and feeling soooo much better all round. Structure from PT has been invaluable.
Will update again next week.
