Sugar

Hello,
I was curious about sugar intake... MFP tells me that I should only have 34 grams of sugar a day but I'm not sure how I can do that... Can everyone share their stories of how they lessened their sugar intake?

*note: I have been avoiding candy and the like but the apple juice that I like seems to send it over.

I always go over it. Not intentionally, but I eat fruits which contain sugar. As long as I hit my macros and I am in a calorie deficit, I really don't care.

I would suggest replacing your apple juice with a real whole apple, which will provide good fiber and less sugar. Or if you can't give up your apple juice, then start adding water to it.....first 1/4th water, then 1/2 and so on, until you're drinking more water than juice but so you get the apple flavor. Drinking fruit juice is giving your body a big jolt of sugar....even though it is "natural sugar". And after the initial jolt there is the inevitible crash!
  • Thanks! I will try both ideas. I really appreciate the help.
