Feeling Beat Down

I am a 37 year old 5'3" female and lost 70 lbs 10 years ago by going to the gym 2 hours a night, 6 days a week and sometimes 3-4 hours on Saturday (with the help of ephedrine which they've taken off the market in the dose that helped me lose the weight) and kept it off for 5 years. I went back to college at 5 years ago and slowly gained some of the weight back. Then I got married and gained more weight back. In total, I've gained 50 lbs of the 70 back. I no longer have the time or quite frankly the desire to spend so much time at the gym.

I've tried EVERYTHING from Medifast, to WeightWatchers, to now Body by Vi (on my first week). I am beginning to feel desperate like nothing I do will allow me to lose weight unless I live at the gym again. I eat roughly 1,200 calories per day and according to this site, I should be eating 1,400 calories to lose approximately one pound per week. So far, I'm on day 5 of Body by Vi and haven't lost anything. My neighbor said she lost 6 lbs the first week. I'm just feeling so discouraged and defeated. I don't want to be fat the rest of my life. I want to look good and feel good about myself again.

Has anyone had success with Body by Vi?

What helped you lose weight 10 years ago may not be what you need to do today. As we get older our bodies change. You may talk to your Dr to see if you may have a thyroid issue or something else that could be causing the problem. Don't beat yourself down! Keep up the motivation!

I have noticed with me that what use to work does not seem to work these days. I had a long talk with my trainer today and he is telling me I need to go talk to a Dr.
  • Hiya, welcome! I'm new, too!

You might be eating too few calories. I don't know how accurate this site's gauge is (it's a little higher than the daily calorie goal I set with my doctor) but you might consider looking into it. I'm sure you've heard before that too few calories makes your body think that you are starving and kicks down your metabolism.

    Good luck, either way!

Hello, First of all, we all loose weight at a different rate than the other person.because one person drops lbs and you don't in one week you shouldn't be discouraged. Keep your head up stay focused and follow your goals. You said it your self, you have done this before and you will do it again.Just telling us about your self and goals tells me and everyone one MFP you are motivated. With time you will see it start to come off.The average lbs lost per week should be around 1.5 -2 lbs.Take it slow.Oh I have been using Body By Vi since March 1st. I really enjoy it.Feel free to add me for additional support and motivation.Best of luck to you.
  • Hello shaedreams!

Getting discouraged is nothing new to anyone. I just came off a 6wk "haul *kitten* to get below a certain weight" effort and today, ate junk. My weight is going to go up a bit now.

However, it showed me there are now shortcuts. We need to exercise, eat "smart", and *pay attention* to how the two affect our weight. No diet, website, or health plan knows you better than you *can* know you (if you don't already).

It will take effort and time, but we're all here for you and with you! Feel free to add me as a friend.

Thanks Misscfe, it just stinks. My thyroid has been checked and all is good. I also have text book blood pressure. I am on an anti-anxiety medication that could be contributing to the weight gain, but it's changed my life for the better so I wont go off of it. I think I need to have more patience with myself. Thank you again!
