Does anyone have dreams about binge eating?

I don't think I have an ED, I've always been fairly relaxed with my eating habits. I just eat what I like, trying not to overdo dairy, gluten or refined sugar.

But once in awhile I get these dreams about dessert feasts. I try to brush it off but when I wake up I have monster cravings for cookies and ice cream. Has anyone experienced this and has tips on how to deal? TIA

Sometimes I'll have dreams about eating a giant piece of cheesecake or huge donuts or something. I usually have a treat everyday, so I'm not really depriving myself. I either just wake up and move on, or if I can't shake it, I'll work a little bit of whatever I was dreaming of into my week.

Food dreams? Yes I do.. and usually I end up having to actually get out of bed and go drink water.. My stomach is usually rumbling (sort of like a hunger pang woke me up) but actually I am thirsty.. Weird but drinking a few ounces and going back to bed usually does the trick.. (i now keep a glass water by the bed)..

edited to add: Binge eating is not something I have ever done but I do dream about food. And my dreamy food is usually about something that resembles clouds.. like cotton candy or marshmallows, cool whip or something that has these in it . I know really stupid weird.

I do also watch a lot of food porn.. Like Carnival Eats, Cake Wars, maybe this is where this comes from.
  • This is probably off the beaten path, but in terms of dream interpretation, dreaming of eating sweets is a subconscious yearning for sensual pleasure...a hunger for physical intimacy. Also pay attention to how you feel about eating the sweets in the dream. Is it unattainable? Forbidden? Is there never enough? This might be about subconscious needs rather than dieting issues. ...just a thought.

I also have dreams about dessert feasts. I usually wake up really disappointed. I've never noticed it have an affect on actual cravings (I don't wake up and seek out doughnuts). I would handle it like any other sugar craving; I'd have breakfast and coffee as normal, maybe choosing something sweeter like pancakes or oatmeal with brown sugar. If the craving remained afterwards, I'd have a cookie or a piece of chocolate.

I have this dream at least once a week. I am always relieved when I wake up and realize it was a dream.

I dream about French pastry shops all the time. Typically I'm looking for something specific but I can never find it (the specific item varies). It's very frustrating. It IS linked to what I've been craving though, but I can't tell you if the dream starts it or the other way around. I'll have to pay more attention next time.

But eating in large amount? Never.

I've wondered about how much your body actually hangs onto when you binge eat.
If your body is used to being in a calorie deficit, do you think if you sat down and ate an entire 16" deep dish pepperoni pizza that your body would hang onto and store all of those calories, grams of fat and carbs? I think your body would be shocked and not know what to do with it all and a lot would pass through without being processed because your body has all it needs of whatever. I know consistently doing this would be detrimental to any progress, but not sure about a one time occurrence. Thoughts?

are you taking any medications? for anxieity or depression? side effect?
also some street drugs can cause these vivid dreams (i know you don't do these, but just had to add it).

No medication, no drugs... But I will try the drinking water and adding a tiny bit of sugar to my normal meal without going crazy. Thanks for the input everyone
