Plateau starting phentermine

I started my journey at the beginning of May, and between May-August I lost 40 lbs. Since then I've been at a plateau and no matter what how much I exercise (work out 4-5 days/week) or watch what I eat I haven't been able to break this plateau.
My doctor prescribed me phentermine 30mg and I was wondering if anyone had seen results after they were already working out and eating right. Most of the stories I find are from people starting phentermine, then starting diet and exercise.

I tried phentermine a few years back in conjunction with a restricted diet. I cannot say for certain that the phentermine was what caused weight loss over the diet. It is an appetite suppressant so it helps you maintain a restricted diet, there were times when I would take it at 11am and not be hungry until 7-8pm at night.
That being said - I encourage you to do some research and look into the side effects of phentermine before trying it out.

ETA: Are you sure that you are currently eating in a deficit? By this I mean weighing/logging your food accurately.

Yeah I am, I've been logging on myfitnesspal since May, and I've even re-adjusted it to account for my new weight.
I've read all the side effects and all the information to go along with the drug, I was just hoping for personal experiences from people that started taking it later into their weight loss journey like I am. Most people drop a ton of weight because they take the drug and change their habits, so it's hard to gauge whether it was the drug or just changing habits. For me I dropped all the weight from changing habits first, so now I'm hoping it will help accelerate the process further along.

Are you logging accurately? Do you use a food scale to weigh everything?

I used a low dosage of phentermine, and it did work. I kept the weight off afterwards. Just ... how do I say this. buy some prune juice. Yr going to need it with this medicine.

Just an idea... you may want to look into your macros more and adjust them accordingly. You're going to need to eat more, to fuel your workouts, to burn more fat!

And a little supplemental help: BCAAs. They focus on keeping the muscle and using carbs to burn instead of your hard earned muscle.

Yes, logging and logging accurately are two different things. Do you use a food scale or just eyeball/measure?

I have a food scale, and if I can't measure I always take the average of similar foods and add more to over estimate how many calories it has to be on the safe side

If you were to see a drop on the scales this week, would your reconsider taking phentermine? If not, don't read any further.

If you are still reading, I would consider taking a break from exercise for a week and continue eating at MFPs calculated calorie goal and see what happens. I am betting that fluid retention is the problem and this will help.

He actually wanted to prescribe it a month ago, but I wanted to hold off and see if I could do it on my own. I've tried not exercising for week, not watching calories for a week, exercising more, eating less, switching up my exercise routine multiple times and nothing seems to help. I went on vacation and ate whatever I wanted and didn't really exercise except for walking, came home and hadn't gained anything. No matter how little or how much I eat, exercise/don't exercise my body seems to be comfortable at the weight I'm at.
I forgot to mention I have an underactive thyroid which might be contributing to the stale mate, but I am on hormone replacements and have been since January

I had been working out for about 4 months without much of a loss before Phentermine. The first month I lost 22 pounds on just a half dose a day. I stopped taking it mid month 2 because my weightless slowed to normal 2 lb a week. It really helped me a bunch. But, it isn't effective long.
