Hello. I am new to this app and dieting altogether. Does anyone have any advice?

Anything in particular you'd like to know more about?
Some basic things about weight loss from my point of view:
1. Don't worry about bad foods, worry about bad portions. In general, weight loss only requires a calorie deficit. You don't need to reduce carbs or "eat clean" or eat raw meat or eat salads or whatever the latest craze is. You might have other reasons to do some of these things, but just for weight loss, calories are king. I eat the same things I always ate, just in different portions, and I'm about 45 pounds down, about 100 to go. Even if you want to make other dietary changes, get the calories down first, then add other changes if you care to.
2. Log everything accurately. Buy a food scale.
3. Plan your meals in advance. This is the #1 easiest way to make sure you eat the right amount of food on a given day.
4. Set a reasonable rate of loss (2 lb/wk for someone with a lot to lose, or smaller for those already closer to goal weight).
5. Weight loss isn't linear. Almost all of the day to day fluctuations in weight are water. To see weight loss, you need to look at trends over time. Sometimes the scale won't move for several days, even a week or more. You're not stuck, as long as you're at a deficit, you're losing. It can just be retained water. Wait it out.0 -
