I rather be on here then Facebook.

I have noticed that being on here is way better for me then Facebook. Anyone else notice that? The less time I am on Facebook, the more motivation I feel. Weird? When I feel the need to do social media, I come here instead and it has had a positive effect. I so love my fitness pal!

Amen to that! Everyone on MFP is so supportive of each other so it's pretty addicting in a good way. Facebook is just full of advertising, rehashed memes from Reddit, and dumb trolls. If all of my IRL friends stopped using Facebook and started using MFP I'd definitely delete my Facebook account that's for sure0

Same here. I don't even have a Facebook anymore.0

I like both. Each has a different purpose. Facebook is for talking to friends about a variety of mutual interests and day to day life. MFP is for the more specific purpose of weight management and sharing that journey with people who have the same goals and struggles. One is not better than the other.0

lol I thought I was the only one. Whenever I get on Facebook and see all the weddings, new babies, and all the other stuff that I don't have yet, it gets depressing but on here everyone has the same goals and pretty much in the same boat so it's very uplifting and keeps me going.0

Yes I'm off Facebook too I find it just drains me these days I found I spent way too long checking out everyone's life instead of living my own!!0

Im the same way0

Yeah. I used to go on FB several times a day. A few months ago I decided FB and IG were not worth my time and was turning my brain to mush so I never go on those social media sites anymore. Instead I come here or read a book or exercise. It feels great not to be like everyone else.0

What's this Facebook thing everyone is talking about???? And why aren't any of my friends responding to my MySpace posts????0

I've been wanting to delete my Facebook for a long time now. It is draining. It's just a bunch of game requests and people selling stuff anymore I don't ever really talk to anyone on there. Same with tv. Between tv and social media all I do is watch others live their lives instead of living mine. I have a 5 month old daughter but I need to get off the couch and out of the house with her more!0

Also an interesting take on why social media may be draining and contributing to high carb eating:

That's not to say you can't eat high carb and lose weight. Just that many people may consume lots of carbs because of the energy needed to supply the brain with energy to deal with the constant energy needed to deal with social media combined with the critical thinking they already do for everyday life.
